Tonight on 00:00 CET+1 mstdn.social will go offline for a planned server migration⚠️

I’m trying my best to make this all happen as fast as possible but I estimate a max of 6 hours of downtime.

In the meanwhile you can keep an eye out on our status page at: https://status.mstdn.social

@rustoleumlove @ai6yr she’s adorbs, my favorite version of doggos! Her nails are long enough to be pushing her toes out of whack, which I understand is very uncomfortable. Our pitties have all been horrible about getting nails clipped, many treats to get them in the door of the groomer, but when nails are trimmed so they don’t press the toes up, pups are definitely more cheerful! The best treat for this has been cream cheese & salami roll ups, before and after. 🥰

I kinda feel this one.. I grew up with the idea that someday I would own my very own house but nowadays that seems like a distant dream. And I’m freaking 31 already

susiemagoo,
@susiemagoo@mstdn.social avatar

@stux This always happens places that become desirable, and people move to more affordable places, which are many, if having a house is more important than living near this or that. People who want to own their home and live life that way(count me as one of them) can find a place to do that. Might not be near the parents in the sweet desirable neighborhood.

Abortion reached its lowest point since Roe under Obama/Biden because the goal was not to punish women, but to address inequality issues and have policies like health insurance covers birth control so that abortions wouldn’t be needed to start with.

Drive time for abortions are longest in low-income, diverse areas across U.S.:

THEIR EXPERIENCE OF REJECTION IS THE ARTWORK

For the last 4 years, the Tasmanian Museum of Old and New Art has been running an installation called The Ladies Lounge. Only people who identify as ladies are allowed to enter. In the lounge, they can sit in luxury and look at famous artworks by Picasso etc, which are not available elsewhere in the museum. They are served champagne and pampered by male butlers. It was meant as a comment on exclusionary men's clubs (which still exist in Australia and elsewhere).

Some dude got upset about it and sued the gallery for entry at the anti-discrimination tribunal. The artist, Kirsha Kaechele, said she was "absolutely delighted" that the exhibit had been taken to court. “The men are experiencing Ladies Lounge, their experience of rejection is the artwork,” she said.

She then turned the tribunal hearing into part of the art as well, by having a group of women observing the hearing dress like her and mimic her every move. They did not disrupt the hearing, and at the end of proceedings they exited the tribunal to the song Simply Irresistible.

Kaechele argued in her defence the Ladies Lounge was a “a response to the lived experience of women forbidden from entering certain spaces throughout history” and promoted equal opportunity.

The tribunal found against the gallery and is ordering them to allow men to enter the exhibit. MONA is removing the exhibit instead.

Fucking love this artist 😂

@cassey @sewing Thanks for the fun report of Kansas City! You may be too young to have experienced it, but KCMO had one of the finest fabric shops ever, in Crown Center, for decades. Cy Rudnick's. Oh my. And then for a time, Home Fabrics and Rugs had a location there for a time. So much great stuff. Thanks for the memory lane! I used to live in KCMO and had/still have a fantastic and overwhelming stash of fabric. Should you find yourself ever in St. Louis, give a shout, and you can pillage it.

A “children’s book” about a cop who points his gun at everything because that’s the only thing he knows how to do.

“Hello” said the hungry caterpillar. The police man pointed his gun at the caterpillar. The caterpillar squeaked and ran away. “I guess he won’t be my friend either” said the policeman sadly. He holstered his gun and walked further down the road still feeling so very alone.

But it is confounding, the leadership chosen by the racist assholes and their enablers, and all the vicious nonsense the leadership enables and encourages. Voting them out is the only remedy I know of. And voting in people who will make positive change. Good luck to you, young man. It isn't any better in Missouri, just smaller.
