"One location was found outside Texas, way to the northeast in Pennsylvania. The old steel mill in ‘Sector 3D’, where Murphy holes up and finally takes out Boddicker’s crew, was the Duquesne Steel Works, off Route 837, Duquesne, just southeast of Pittsburgh. The plant had been closed down in 1984 and, as you’s expect, has since been totally demolished."
@Hey_Beth sadly I lost some of the photos I took here so I don't have anything from those areas, but at least you can get an idea of the auditorium, lobby, and projection booth
We had a college do that in a near by town. Our mall was razed and housing was supposed to be built there (there have been lots of issues on that).
But before the apartment buildings were proposed for the site, I was thinking, "Wouldn't actually be cool to live inside the mall space?" Convert each store an apartment or two and the department stores to some kind of luxury apartments. Some part of the mall (like the food court) could be a two way business area, open to the public on one side and controlled access on the other side for tenants. Hair salons, restaurants, coffee etc. available to the residents without ever going outside.
The renovation might be too expensive, but I think it could be very cool. Maybe even as a retirement type development.
@Hey_Beth What a shame that one person can destroy buildings like that, and what a legacy to leave! I'm so glad the buildings have new tenants. And yes, I'll definitely be keeping in touch with Schultz. I'd like to see a show at the theater when it reopens too!
