It took a bit but finally I'm on the right track in Unreal Engine for an optimized game :blobhappy:

In my whole current project I have casted only ONCE! And that actor gets destroyed after a few seconds ๐Ÿ˜€ Interfaces are the way to go

Alrighty..! I think I got it all ready for the migration ๐Ÿค”

  • New server within local (mstdn) network
  • Setup new Mastodon server that's ready for a database import

On new server:

  • Smaller main server
  • Scalable volume for database
  • Scalable volume for search db
  • Scalable volume for extra backups

Now I'm waiting for a good moment to power down Mastodon, start backups and wait for that until that backup can be reimported on the new server via the volume!

While the new databse is importing, feed are rebuild and search is indexing I'm gonna edit the DNS and gen new certs for the new server

Also while that is going upgrade the sidekiq servers to Glitch and change settings for new main server

When allll that is done the Glitch upgrade is getting added and i have to do some checks afterwards

Soooo! It's gonna be a busy night

A few years ago this eas done and done within a few hours :flan_laugh:

But nowadays I'm dealing with such massive databases for example and a looot more servers

Also have become as careful as I can since it's my baby :catblush:

Weird that we can't explain a few kubic meters heavy radioactive waste from the NL each year but somehow we can justify pumping our Atmosphere full with toxics each day with our burning engines

"Oehhh all things radioactive are soo scary, we can't setup our grandkids with that" is what they say

But apparently they are totally fine with ruining the climate and expel toxic next where you breath

Until we have something better like fusion we should stick with fission also, but what do I know!๐Ÿคท

For the last 2 weeks I've been running a "fun to play around with" Glitch-soc Mastodon instance on a former work laptop that they didn't want back :bloblaugh:

Purged Windows and setup Linux server, attached a SSD and boom! Unfort the disk is only ~300GB is not much wiggle room

It's running quite smooth, except for some 'DNS issues' at the start, maybe IP ban or something๐Ÿค”Been using my single letter domain 'u.fail' for this btw if anyone is interested

Think we'll go with Glitch on mstdn soon

I've never had an issue with Masto migrations but you don't want to get in such a situation
