So, since JoinMastodon.org has decided to change the way servers are listed on their website — showing preference for large servers who do not have a manual review process to join —>
May I ask that you Boost this post so people can find us at https://mstdn.games ? :1up: :boost_ok:
We’re an all-inclusive #gaming community and our Local feed is amazing — absolutely the go-to place for all things #Games. Our Mods are top tier.
This post is for all the #Gaming folks that signed up on .social by default who are looking for a home on #Mastodon that focuses on #VideoGames, has an inclusive community, and is well moderated. :boost_ok:
Jennell Jaquays, #trans icon, #LGBTQA activist, legendary level designer, and probably the most influential #TTRPG creator, writer and illustrator many have never heard of (or enough of) passed away.
Her work in early #DnD with Dark Tower and Caverns of Thracia, and level design in the Quake series is so influential it is still felt today in the way we design maps, adventures, and scenarios, and how big AAA studios like FromSoftware craft their environments.
The dwarven city cross section map is finally finished. A geological survey focused on rock types feels a likely product of an underground society. As a result I’ve made the strata and faults of the rocks the most vibrant and detailed part of the map, leaving the tunnels and buildings as mostly negative space. I’m super pleased with how it turned out. Map will be on sale as an art print soon. #ttrpg#gamemap#gamemaps#mapmaker#mapmakers#cartography#cartographer#cavecity
It’s up to us to keep our hobby strong. Buy physical RPG books and PDFs direct from independent publishers. Don’t become reliant on online digital tools. Use paper character sheets. Let players use options from non-WOTC 5e books. Play other RPGs.
What else can we do strengthen our hobby from the whims of any single company?
Confession time: I am not overly enamored of "rules-lite" RPG systems. As long as the system is coherent and well-thought out, I prefer it when the system has rules for all sorts of things - from tactical combat to running chases to social encounters to falling damage and so forth. I like GURPS, I like D&D5E, I like Pathfinder...
It’s #PortfolioDay and I won’t do it on Twitter, it stinks too damn much over there.
Here comes !
I’m Thomas and I draw maps. For novels, games and rpgs but mostly for fun. Here are a few examples. If you like the first dose, you’ll find more at the link in my bio. #map#mapmaking#mapmaker#rpg#ttrpg#jdr#fantasy#fantasymap#handdrawn
Boost much appreciated 😁🙏🍻
my landlord increased my rent!! so i'm running a two-week sale where you can get NINE #JOURNALING#TTRPG s for ten bucks! including the new standalone edition of I LOVE YOU, ALIVE GIRL, my cyberpunk epistolary game about hiding love letters in reviews of online products.
Lost my job recently and it's been rough out there. I'm a podcast editor, sound designer, and VA trying to build my portfolio. Let me craft your fiction or nonfiction audio into its best shape. I'd love to try my hand at a TTRPG!
I've written and directed for the award-winning audio drama Someone Dies In This Elevator and have my own in the works.
Intro for the new wave of people.
Hello I am #trans woman illustrator who live in Montréal, I work on #ttrpg and I love crafting #zines.
I love folklore, cyberpunk, animals, transformers, science news, indy comics and other whimsical stuff.
I struggle with loneliness and burnout but I never give up.
I am open to poly and long distance relationships.
Mastodon is not easy to get into, it took me 3 tries but if you regularly post you will connect with other people. ✨
I guess I should do an introduction... I joined Mastodon way back when Twitter imploded (not that I was on Twitter, but it seemed like the place to be), but really didn't figure it out. Now that Reddit's imploding, I'm gonna give it a real shot. I read that it's only polite to do an intro so here I am.
I go by Krispy in every place except work, I'm 36, married, with a dog, two cats, and two snakes. I don't have kids and do not plan to. I have a variety of hobbies, some outdoor (biking, disc golf, birdwatching, etc), some more sedentary (video games, board games, reading, etc), some creative (miniature painting, fountain pen/handwriting, TTRPGs), and some consumptive (tea, baking)... I'm probably missing some.
I love animals/wildlife/ecology. I got my Masters in wildlife parasitology and though I don't use that in my career, I've kept that curiosity and interest. I'm obsessed with paleontology and obscure animals.
I love stories, mostly fantasy, sci fi, mystery/thriller, romance, in virtually any medium. I'm currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, reading Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan, listening to A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie, and watching Drag me to Dinner.
I have a strong science background and believe in questioning everything, but with the understanding that I can't know everything and much in life is unintuitive, so something not making sense to me does not mean it's wrong.
I have no idea how to find people to follow, so if anyone makes it to the end of this and thinks I seem interesting enough to follow, I'll follow you back... I'll start there.
