I have been programming since I was 12 (born in '73 #genx), currently enjoy coding in #Rust. I use Linux every day; I prefer open to closed. I try to live and let live when it comes to people's tech choices.

I work in tech but am learning how better to separate that from my passion for programming.

I used to podcast, I plan to again soon.

I practice #zazen, #qigong, and #taichi every day.

I got roped into calming Roxy, our rescue heeler-collie mix, while @kamikat brushed out as much as she could of the remaining winter under coat. Roxy hates being brushed and is not shy showing it.

I assembled our new rake and broke it in cleaning up all the wet, dead, grass clippings in the backyard.

Our old rake was long lost before finishing renovations last Summer.

The fescue is still too long in spots but hopefully won't keep dying back or encouraging mushrooms. I'm hoping 2-3 days of dry weather will help more now that everything is cleaned up.

I also broke the new rake. I hatea Amazon, it is impossible to figure out how cheap and shitty most things listed are until they arrive.

The handle is a few segments fitted together with threads. One of the segments looks like when the threads were formed, it actually weakens or pierced the metal.

Thankfully the rake was a bit long anyway. I removed and discarded the broken segment. The shorter handle is actually easier to use now.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

The gray weather has returned #today but the forecast for the week has shifted. We may get a few showers this afternoon but looks like the first half of the week may be clear.

I've assembled a new rake and plan to spend at least part of my morning working to get two trimmings worth of leftover, wet grass clippings bagged up so we'll be less reliant on the dry weather in case the weather shifts again.

Next up, The Last Voyage of the Demeter. I'm not optimistic but we'll see.

I like the casting. Corey Hawkins, Liam Cunningham, and David Dastmalchian.

It wasn't bad. A bit long but otherwise well made.

We are finishing Imaginary while we digest a delivery treat.

Apparently this movie had a couple more twists left in it.

I just unlocked more of Hades II. Also installed this week's patch. The release notes were helpful. I liked that they hid spoilers but let you reveal them if you want.

I just filled out the @protonprivacy user survey after someone else mentioned it asked about AI and crypto. I made my feelings as a paying user known: please no AI or crypto but if you must, the default should be opt-in.

@protonprivacy Thank you for clarifying.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I am enjoying a slow, quiet morning #today. I am noodling on my laptop, listening to the rain and the birds out back at the feeder.

I think I will prioritize recharging today. I do have an idea for a simpler essay that I think I can distill from the one I've been working on for a few weeks. We'll see if I can find the appetite for some writing later.

I've taken care of my nonnegotiables: meditation, daily reader, and starting my journal entry for .

On with the rest of the agenda for the day. We both were thinking about relaxing so that's now the plan.

A rewatch of Battlestar Galactica it is. Perfect. I can play Hades II or explore on my laptop while we watch.

@cmdln@thecommandline.social avatar

I haven't binged a series in a while. Battlestar held up well enough.

@grueproof We started doing the same, on a smaller scale, each week for the very same reason. @kamikat found these perfect trays for us, one typically holds two servings. Every other week or so, she plans a meal that will feed us on the night and let us put a few trays in the freezer. Favorites so far are shepherd's pie and manicotti.

We are watching Imaginary, another Blumhouse production. Hoping for at least better than Night Swim which we watched last Friday. Half hour in, not sure yet.

cmdln,
@cmdln@thecommandline.social avatar

Forty minutes in, now we are getting to it. A not surprising twist then leaning with commitment into the full reveal. The clues were there from the start. Good cast, well made. Let's hope the setup pays off in the third act.

@cmdln@thecommandline.social avatar

This movie is longer than we realized. Also didn't spot going in that it was PG-13. Actually has meant more intense emotional beats. Stopping because it is after our bed time. We'll watch the final act tomorrow.

Just finished Nikki Glaser's new special. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt32149504/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2 It's a lot but smart and authentic. I enjoyed it.

@adamsdesk This is a helpful post, thanks for sharing!

I pretty much live in vimwiki and tried out inlyne. I think it will work well for me, since I can do something like :!inlyne "%" &. Since it live updates, it works well as a live preview for whatever I am working on in that buffer.
