Qualcuno che ne capisce ha idea se in Italia è possibile mettere su una associazione senza scopo di lucro per lo sviluppo di software libero? (Qualcosa tipo la KDE e.V., per capirci: https://ev.kde.org/, o quella che stava dietro a Mastodon prima dei recenti casini che ha avuto in Germania.)

Qualche anno fa io e le mie colleghe abbiamo “rotto” con nostro capo di allora. Abbiamo cambiato gruppo di lavoro, portando con noi le competenze e parte degli strumenti usati per svolgere il nostro lavoro. L'ex capo ha cercato di metterci il bastone tra le ruote in ogni modo possibile ed immaginabile. Non entro nei dettagli, ma alla fine nel corso degli anni siamo riusciti a superare questi ostacoli nella maggior parte dei casi.

La lezione piú importante che ho imparato da questa esperienza è: traccia scritta di tutto, anche per quelle che possono sembrare scemenze. Una mail anche solo di un rigo per confermare ogni richiesta, ogni accordo fatto, prima di procedere con qualsiasi cosa.

I want to be more active in different discussions on here but don't want to dump irrelevant stuff onto everyone or make additional accounts. I wish we could have different personas or sub-profiles, so I could read a single TL but post to different feeds that could be subscribed separately.

@aeva @tess this is something where the forum structure would work better at keeping context. Lemmy/kbin anyone? (I know there's some decent degree of interoperability with Mastodon, but they don't seem to see as much usage.)

fun fact: ActivityPub actually allows this kind of contextualization through the context and audience properties of Objects. (But like several other AP features, this isn't something Mastodon supports.)

I'm looking at kbin currently as something with the potential to unify the two things, as it supports both the classic topical forums (“magazines” as they call them) and microblogs (which is where e.g. Mastodon pots go federate (for example, this thread on kbin looks like this: https://kbin.social/m/random/p/6119328/I-want-to-be-more-active-in-different-discussions-on —ends up in the microblog section of the random magazine because it has no tags, but e.g.https://kbin.social/m/puns/p/6089412/Greetings-hello-my-name-is-Inigo-Montoya-you-killed-my goes in the “puns” magazine)

I haven't done extensive testing, but the impression I got from my limited experiments is that you need a Lemmy or kbin account to post to the main (threads) section of a kbin magazine.

It's one of the differences between Lemmy and kbin. With Lemmy you can post a thread from Mastodon using the format:

the post title

@ the lemmy channel

the post body
---8<----
but in kbin this still goes to the microblog section, not the main (threads) section, AFAICS.

I don't follow any lemmy or kbin accounts so I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. I do subscribe to some Lemmy channels and the posts there appear on my timeline as if boosted by the lemmy channel from the original author. I keep wanting to experiment more but I haven't found the time to dedicate to it, sorry.
