One of my favorite #cardGames is #Machiavelli, similar to #Rummy but where the players have the opportunity to rearrange all played groups and runs as they please to make it easier to add their cards (as long as at the end of the play everything on the table is valid).

I've come to the conclusion that the strictly reverse chronological timeline enforced by #Mastodon is a horrible idea, and the more I use Mastodon the more I'm convinced of this. Before anyone jumps me for misunderstanding my complaint, I'm not going to advocate for an algorithmic-manipulated timeline: I'll argue in favor of something completely different.

Look, it's not that I don't get the enthusiasm about #P92‌/‌#Barcelona —that's not the reason why I warn against federating with it <https://sociale.network/@oblomov/110397020867065165>. I do get it. There is something elating, validating, empowering even, when some{one,thing} Big & Famous (seems to) adopts “underdog” tech. I know because I've been there, both as a user and as a developer. But because of that, and for having been burned already not once, not twice, but three times at least, I know what to look out for.

Sono #inFilaAllaPosta, all'ufficio con il peggior rapporto popolazione/sportelli, dove la fila comincia un'ora prima dell'orario di apertura. Siamo già al secondo foglio con i nomi scritti a penna, mentre la guardia giurata chiama quelli del primo. L'ambiente è abbastanza pacato, a parte per una signora prenotata dalla figlia, che non si poteva pace del fatto che qualcuno avesse sbagliato a indicare i numeri accanto ai nomi e che i nomi venissero chiamati in ordine di scrittura e non di numero.

Parliamo quindi del contraltare allo snobismo di certi intellettual(oid)i cui “ripugna” qualsiasi attività “manuale”, al punto talvolta persino di arrivare a vantarsi di non saper piantare un chiodo o stringere una vite.

Come molti di voi avranno facilmente intuito, il contraltare a cui mi riferisco è lo spirito anti-intellettuale ed anti-culturale che si è diventato possente negli ultimi decenni, ma che serpeggia in certi ambienti da almeno 50 anni, se non dagli anni '60 del XX secolo.

This is a preemptive call to #Fediblock Meta's #P92‌/‌#Barcelona instance, for three reasons at least:

1. it'll be huge and extremely poorly moderated;
2. it will be a #privacy nightmare, allowing Meta to extensively profile #Fediverse users with greater ease;
3. it will be used to #EEE the Fediverse in the same way their “support” for #RSS and #XMPP was used to wipe them out from the general consciousness with a rug-pull (my full thoughts on this: http://wok.oblomov.eu/tecnologia/credible-threat-1/ )

10 days ago I put down in writing my (low) expectations for Mastodon supporting QTs <https://sociale.network/@oblomov/110295026893193313>. With the recent growth of interest in #CalcKey, a platform that supports the feature, I'm already seeing my prediction come true, with high-profile accounts engaging in #UselessUseOfQT instead of plain old boosting or more in-depth out-of-band commentary. And that's still from a relatively small platform. When this his the larger Mastodon servers it'll be a shitshow.
