Fedi on Fire first beta is now released! I just had to try and do it... Watch those endless Fediverse posts flow! :meow_hearteyes: Check it out at https://fedionfire.stream

I've been in this industry long enough to see things constantly come & go. #React is no different - it'll be replaced by other frameworks soon & those will be hot for a bit. Then that one will be replaced & so on. Learn your basics! #HTML#CSS, plain#JS. Those are the only things that don't come & go & will take you through your entire career, regardless of what's cool right now. Will I still be coding #WordPress in 10 years? Who knows! But my knowledge of #PHP will carry me on.
I got carried away last night after reading @bramus post on scroll direction detection using #CSS#scrollDrivenAnimations. It turns out you can control #pixelArt sprites in 8 directions! With zero #JS!
Friendly reminder that XULRunner, the standalone Gecko runtime that once powered web-based applications like Songbird and that was abandoned by Mozilla Corporation has been revived and now builds atop Goanna. 30% of all package recommendations from ChatGPT for python and js we're hallucinations. And that presents a real opportunity to sneak malware into your project.
I saw Bar Lanyado present this research as a talk at #BSidesSg on Friday. It was scary, and yet another reminder for us developers not to let AI chew our food for us.
Which JavaScript framework for the web frontend is the smallest, fastest, and best overall? If it's not listed, please mention it as a comment and why 🧑💻 → pls boost this toot :BoostOK:
Experienced "jack of all" developer in #php, #c++, #c#, #java, #js, #dart, etc looking for full-time or long-term project work.
Experience in large websites, webapps (small/med biz), mobile apps, dashboards/dataviz, audio/video processing/streaming, APIs, #as400, automation, etc.
Has worked Fortune 500, much prefer non-profit.
Would love to work on a team, and would be happy to maintain a legacy project.
I want to pair with someone to try to understand how I can fix a few things on my site. Preferably with someone who knows more #11ty and #JS than I do. This might take an hour on a call. You don't have to turn video on.
In return, I'll curate a list of five recipes according to your food preferences. Or teach you something in photography or food!
I'd really like to see something like this on Mastodon, on Home feed and other main feeds. We should be able to know what the replies are about without having to open the whole thread.
Right now the replies don't mean anything unless I open them. Unmaintained Mastodon client Halcyon manages to do this, so it can be done in core as well. I once tried it via JS but my skills are not enough for it to be reliable enough.
Honestly... it's not exactly anything new that's spurred the realisation that React is overcomplicated for what it tries to do. Glad the light is being found, but yikes that was a long time coming.
"React suggests using a framework to start a project, suggesting to use one of the three main open source frameworks, instead of just React." This itself isn't surprising, as React suffers from the same issues as Framework mania.
It’s so cool to be able to tail your database (append-only JavaScript log¹) when playing with Kitten².
(If I do say so myself.)
The output on the right is the initial state of running the following command on your project folder to tail the domains table when the project is being served on the domain dev.ar.al:
OC kbin-mod-options; Mod options made easy
