My Mastodon is on fire with the Slack stuff today. Which begs the question: is money and the pursuit of insane amounts of money the ONLY thing that matters to us as a civilization? On #GoogleIO's keynote, it is said that Google Search has been getting an increase in user satisfaction, and I feel like there must be something weird going on,because all I read everywhere on news, blogs and social media is that people are feeling that Google Search is getting worse and worse (which I also feel). Tldr: pass the env variable XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 to discord command

This way it's finally possible to open the share screen without it going on a loop forever with asking for you to select a thing to share with the xwaylandvideobridge!

Just tried, it works.

I'm starting to see a wave of single-PR users on GitHub submitting updates to copyright dates. There is nothing obviously malicious about them, though they have a metallic whiff of bot. Is there any reason to avoid these?

Tldr: don't update the dates after the initial creation, it's useless.

There's also the school of thought about removing the dates altogether, but this link gives good enough reasons why it matters.

@ross yeah, I've seen diffs in scala stuff out there and seen than sbt header plugin thing, but fortunately I never used it personally nor professional.

Usually for work it's all internal stuff so there's not really enforcement around that 😅.

Spdx is the best 😌. I'm really liking the short name for the license, and not having to add huge comments with boilerplate text.

I've been trying / experimenting with using reuse tool to manage these things and it's kinda nice too.

Damn yeah. Finally fixed the pin entry program to actually use the secret service on and to stop asking all the time for the password for signing commits.

It seems a somewhat recent breaking change, since this worked before. Anyway, someone had already written about it on wiki.

Tldr: after setting the pin entry program on gpg-agent config to use the qt version, we need to change the gpg-agent service to have XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP as anything but "kde".

The latest version of pin entry is 1.3.0 which doesn't have the new option described there about setting the env variable PINENTRY_KDE_USE_WALLET=1.

So for now we need to do:

systemctl --user edit gpg-agent.service

And add the following:

Environment="XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP=pooper-hack"

Save, exit, reload the agent.

Just tested and fixed things on my side with this.

Anyway this seems all kinda ridiculous because it's about some potential problem when using kwallet as the secret service and kwallet configured to use as the backend? I never knew that was possible.

Anyway, currently I'm using with its secret service integration to make all this work.
