What happens, when you join two paths in a #programming language when the second one is an absolute one?

join("foo", "/bar")
returns "foo/bar" or "/bar"?

The wonderful @meisterluk wrote a great article about that you might want to read: https://lukas-prokop.at/articles/2024-05-03-filepath-join-behavior

I can not tell what version I'd actually prefer. There are situations where both versions would be "proper".

Thinking about submitting a talk or two to Fluttercon USA. Company would like me to talk about mobile observability, but I kinda also want to talk about Dart embedding. Curious if Fluttercon is a good fit for that....

everyone’s talking about the python layoffs but the and layoffs seem to have flown under the radar. from a mobile dev perspective they are more concerning regarding google’s commitment to its supposedly first class cross platform development ecosystem

It occurred to my today that I have been coding for 40 years, starting with ZX Spectrum BASIC and currently enjoying #dart and #flutter. I still love #coding, it still excites me and I am always learning. I can't image a time when I don't code.

Beautiful day for a train into Dublin.

(Even if it’s for the frankly ridiculous task of having to pick up my passport and ID card in person from the embassy.)

I recently posted a lot about using code generation with build_runner for productive and development. Now that I am working on an in-depth article on this topic, I'd like to ask for your input. What questions do you have or what particular aspects do you struggle with? Let me know in the comments!

In the meantime, I thought I’d gather 5️⃣ useful resources I previously shared about code generation in a single thread below.

I'll be honest, after years of using working with and in the year 2023 feels reminiscent of how it was using Java 7 for Android development more than a decade ago.

I’ve had the itch to create an app that addresses a very specific hobby need I have.

While it definitely could be a PWA app — I’ve got zero interest in paying for hosting, domains, etc.

I own only an iPhone and iPad, but I’ve decided to use . My initial impression is that it and borrow heavily from other popular programming languages and app platforms. I don’t mind that at all. It feels familiar and fresh. , , , ,
