PeerTube, the Fediverse's alternative to YouTube, is normally associated with video. However, you can also upload audio files directly to PeerTube. It will accept lots of audio formats including .mp3, .ogg, .aac, .flac, .wma etc.
You can optionally upload an image file as a thumbnail. If not, audio files will show a black screen by default.
If you're looking to share music, podcasts or other audio on the Fediverse, you might want to sign up on a FunkWhale server.
Funkwhale is a free open source audio platform featuring channels that can be followed from Mastodon etc. You can sign up on servers or start your own.
Fun random fact: the sample rate of Audio CD format is 44100Hz. The Nyquist frequency for audible sound is roughly double the upper limit of human hearing, which is 20kHz.
So why is the CDDA sample rate more than 40kHz, but only a little bit more?
The prime factorization of 44100 is 2^2•3^2•5^2•7^2, which gives a LOT of options for computationally cheap downsampling and playback speed reduction. 😁

Not sure whether this has been already brought up here but someone has created an #Accessibility assistant app for the VoiceMeeter application for Windows. VoiceMeeter is a bit like Audio Hijack for Mac where you can chain different inputs on a virtual soundcard, let it run through different outputs and route the audio of other programs to it just like you could with a physical mixing board. Currently I have set it up so that my microphone runs through it as well as any other app i route to it and it is all played both for me on my headset and to the world wherever I decide to stream it. The microphone is muted on my end so that I don't have to hear myself but others can hear me still. It is early days and many options aren't supported by the accessibility addon but the fact I could create an optimal config for myself is already great.
