This is clearly not meant to be disassembled. Anyone have ideas? I assume the textured side has to be some kind of nut?

(It's fried and constantly trips with no load giving the "internal fault" LED code, curious what's inside and if there's any visible damage)

Rounded bolt head that doesn't look like a good entry vector

jpm,
@jpm@aus.social avatar

@azonenberg you’ll definitely have to drill it out, looks about a 3mm bit? Hopefully it’s not hardened steel too.

To avoid even a remote possibility of anybody using it again, remove the main contacts too

Me when I can't find a parking space near the school: park half a kilometre away, walk through sleet and snow

Everyone else apparently: park across driveways, park across school crossing, double park, who gives a shit, nothing is real.

jpm,
@jpm@aus.social avatar

@jimbob I would simply walk the entire way to and from school

jpm,
@jpm@aus.social avatar

@jimbob it’s good for you. Did you not hear about walk to school day a couple of weeks ago?

Can you get GU10 or MR16 bulbs or lights that aren't spots/downs?

jpm,
@jpm@aus.social avatar
jpm,
@jpm@aus.social avatar

@geordie I accidentally bought 2 when I meant to buy GU10 spots. Horrifyingly ugly, but works surprisingly well.

Definitely retrofit with proper flush-fit 120° LED downlights if you can though. We did it for the majority of the old halogen downlights here and it’s so much better.

Is it my imagination or has Google totally broken the "tools" button in Google News search? I normally use it to order things the way I want and to narrow it to the time period I want. The buttons still there but now it does.. nothing

There's a new button in Outlook to request invitees to attend a meeting in-person, because the default is online now.

jpm,

@geordie I assume the default is online, specifically in Teams?

Influenza infection: 1 star, not generally recommended. The hallucinations and fever dreams are interesting, definitely don’t like my legs feeling like they’ve been beaten with a sack of doorknobs.

And sorry, no idea where these tests came from, it just appeared beside the bed. Likely either Chemist Warehouse or Amazon.

jpm,

@LovesTha yeah I can’t imagine the triple-tests being cheap, definitely something you’d only grab to confirm which horrible disease you’ve got

how has nobody leaked gerbers for the pi boards, you'd think that would've happened several times by now.

I have no interest in using them but it would be very interesting to review their board layouts.

jpm,
@jpm@aus.social avatar

@flangey @gsuberland I think that’s kinda the problem - for all their design faults and cost-cutting shenanigans, they are pretty damn tolerant of physical abuse. I know one that dived out of a drone and bounced for 30M down an asphalt carpark, which worked fine after (unfortunately that RPi is now lost somewhere in the Murray-Sunset National Park, along with the LoRaWAN radio and drone it was attached to)
