I released a new synthwave/chiptune influenced album this week and today is Bandcamp friday... so if you've thought of picking it up, now is a very good time... wink wink, nudge nudge.
"I'm uninspired, don't feel that well and have only about eight hours left for this week's #WeeklyBeats track … let's do it on the #M8, which is the first tracker that I use and which I've been noodling around with for about six hours in total up until now."
Synth manufacturer #Dirtywave just announced a new and improved version of the handheld #M8Tracker, called Model:02 being available for preorder for 650 USD, expected to ship in May:
If (and, granted, that's a big if) you can get used to the whole tracker paradigm, there's no groovebox with a better size to features ratio. It can do MIDI, samples, synths, even cast its screen to a web browser via USB. You can write whole albums on the M8, on the go. Jeremy did: https://youtu.be/Zxn9R6Jcs3I
The Model:02 is a nice quality of life improvement to what's already a great device.
FYI: The #M8Tracker Model:02 preorder batch is expected to sell out really soon. Like, in hours instead of days. Next preorder batch will then probably ship in August. (Source: M8 Discord)
Impressive support from #DirtyWave: I just bought a 2nd hand #M8Tracker (thus didn't put any money in their pockets). It has a broken display bezel. I sent them an e-mail asking for ways to replace it. Immediate response asking for an address to ship a replacement today/tomorrow. Wow!
trying to do something for this week, i kind of like how the pulse lead works in the "chorus" part, even though it's not really a chiptuney thing otherwise #m8tracker
My first music post on here, it’s a lil tune I made over lunch on my m8 for the @musicweeklies#challengezone prompt. The challenge was time limitation & only producing using the m8’s internal synths (which, admittedly, are pretty powerful 😅) #m8tracker
"Weeklybeats is a 52 week long music project in which artists compose and publicly release 1 song a week for the entire year. Starting January 1st 2024 GMT each participant will have one week to upload one finished composition. Any style of music or selection of instruments are welcomed and encouraged."
Definitely getting more confident with the #M8Tracker. I love some of the possibilities it brings to the table, especially when it comes to complex sequencing, but on the other hand I find it so tedious to enter notes, even when using MIDI. Let's see whether I find a good way to combine it with the #Deluge and get the best of both worlds.
Another month has grifted it's way through the corridors of time, and so once more we stare down the barrel of #BandCampFriday wondering if maybe this month our music might be elevated into the blissful glee of the zeitgeist.
Or maybe someone will, you know, listen and say it's nice.
Spot of high energy chiptune?... Anybody?...
Niiiice!
Laamaa's got you covered with this excellent six track release from 2022. Made with the dirtywave M8 tracker, this has all the hallmark sonics of chiptune tied up in a nineties dance club aesthetic, and it's glorious!
I'm interested in #art, #audio, #musicproduction and #gamedev among other things. Looking forward to see familiar and new faces here, feel free to ask anything!
