When is it time to walk away?
(That's a tough one, alright)

We make commitments & compromises, invest in projects, entertain hopes & dreams, and then ... well, life happens. It's always a little chaotic, and sometimes it's just plain bad.

It's hard to choose: persist or desist?

Decisions that feed the soul honour our deepest #values.

What matters to you?
▪ creativity?
▪ how we treat one another?
▪ health?
▪ meaning?
▪ the environment?
▪ family?
▪ fun?
what else?

I have seen only one "april fools' joke" today. (And it was in bad taste; a bit upsetting).

In this time of misinformation and AI delusions: thank you, all.

AutisticManager, to random
@AutisticManager@techhub.social avatar

If you know an autistic person, you’re probably aware that April is “Autism Awareness Month.” What you might not know, however, is that April is a month of pure hell for folx.

The concept originated in 1970, when we understood a lot less about autism than we do today. Since then, the month has been co-opted by groups like Autism Speaks for fundraising. But what neurotypical people don’t realize is that the vast majority of these groups are actually

considered to be hate-groups by the community. So much of the discourse and dialogue around autism has centered NT people. When you consider NTs to be the ‘norm’ and NDs to be outside of that norm, the discussion veers toward “how do we help them be normal?”

It's a thread! 🧵

Holy fucking shit!

Every year, I google "famous economist" to show my intro class how dominated the field is by white men.

This is the first time ever that a women has appeared in this search and there are two of them!

That is a small but real step in the right direction in terms of representation in field that desperately needs it.

Note: this may be due to my own searches and Google's algorithm showing what it thinks I want, but still!

(a day late, sorry)

@FantasticalEconomics I had to scroll to the 5th screen, on my android using duckduckgo, to see a woman (Janet Yellen) but that item was pretty good!

"This is not subjective. We all saw it. Plenty of leaders today try to convince the masses we did not see what we saw, but our eyes don’t deceive. (If leaders began a yearslong campaign today to convince us that the Baltimore bridge did not collapse Tuesday morning, would you ever believe them?) Trust your eyes. Trump on Jan. 6 launched the most serious threat to our system of government since the Civil War. You know that. You saw it." #Trump #Biden https://www.cleveland.com/news/2024/03/our-trump-reporting-upsets-some-readers-but-there-arent-two-sides-to-facts-letter-from-the-editor.html

We in the caring professions need to remain aware of how covid has affected clients' physical and mental health. The effects are more pervasive than we'd prefer to believe - and I say this from personal experience.

Curious about working with a #lifecoach?

The best way is to try it! Many coaches offer a complimentary "chemistry" session, so you can get to know each other and see how they work. But check that it includes not just chat, but also coaching!

Find skilled coaches using coach finders, like:
ICF https://coachingfederation.org/find-a-coach &
Co-Active https://www.coactivenetwork.com/?txUserSearch@@.bebc200!advancedSearch=1

… or use the link in my profile here to book a call with me. I'd love to meet you!

Can Real-Time Journalism Make A Fediverse Comeback?

"The Newsmast social feed. You can access your regular Mastodon feed while still getting access to a variety of news outlets you might not have seen otherwise.

The result is a well-curated social media feed, operated from its own network of apps and web interfaces, built on top of an open ecosystem, that makes it easier to follow relevant news topics in a way that has since been lost on other platforms. Suddenly, you don’t feel like you’re losing much, even though the trending topics of Twitter are long gone. A good journalist or researcher knows how to build a feed like this. But the layperson might have trouble—and this curated approach helps improve the on-ramp."

anyone using ? https://tedium.co/2024/03/30/real-time-journalism-fediverse-newsmast/

There'a a conference I considered attending last year, but there was no mention at all on the website about covid mitigation strategies. I couldn't even see a way to request a single room. I also could find no way to contact the organiser to ask questions.
I'm at elevated risk from covid19, even removing my mask to eat with others feels risky.
Nope. Sad, but nope.

Glad to see this initaitive.

I'm just finishing a 2nd reading of The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (by N. K. Jemison) and it's quite amazing. Greek pantheon meets modern fantasy fiction.
