Niklaus Wirth, the inventor of the Pascal programming language, author of "Algorithms + Data Structures = Programs", and more, passed away on January 1.

Wirth's law, named after him, is an adage which states that software gets slower more rapidly than hardware gets faster.

The speaker line-up for the Confoo 2024 developer conference was announced this morning.

There are 98 speakers on the schedule. Over 90 of them are men. Over 90 of them are white.

The email announcement this morning was from a previous year's after-party. It was all men, many holding beer in the photo.

Sad, I can't in good faith support this conference. Hope to catch some of the talks at more inclusive conferences.
