@DanielMenjivar @sewing You could consider cutting garments with bigger seam allowances. That gives you a bit of scope for adjustment if any part is too tight. Don't trim the seam allowance until you're satisfied with the fit.

When you say or ask for something regarding open source, add "for me" to the end of the sentence. If that makes it sound rude, then consider rephrasing.

Some examples to show some good and bad phrases I hear regularly:

  • "I want this ... for me"
  • "It's been a year; how is this not done yet ... for me"
  • "I think this is important ... for me"
  • "I think that's a good idea ... for me"
  • "That should be easy to do ... for me"

It starts with a fear something might be true and progresses seamlessly to belief that it is true.

I asked a Buddhist teacher once why this happens and they said it was because fear and imagination come from the same part of the mind.

At the head of the cot is an angled white wall unit that has embedded in it a reel-to-reel tape player. Above that are a light and two speakers, and above those, a television set. The white wall-unit continues to the right, where there is a fold out desk that is folded out. On the far right side is a wall with more white units. The floor is black. It has a look of something you'd see in a science-fiction movie, almost as if it were the inside of a spaceship.

@clive The " futurists" of that era didn't think future humans would like comforts like textures, softness and colour (or furniture that doesn't stab you with its sharp corners.) They thought we would dress in sheet plastic and foil. It was never explained why they thought this.

Spent the afternoon in my #sewing room, making a pattern out of an existing pyjama top for my wife. I still need to trace out the sleeve, but I’m happy with my progress so far. Slow but steady. @sewing

A large cutting table littered with oak tag pieces and various pattern drafting tools; you can see the front and back pattern pieces close to the front, with the scrunched up pyjama top near the back.

@StillIRise1963 Just been thinking how 20,000 people are rallying in Berlin against the extreme Right. Someone asked why aren't Americans doing same. I'd put it down to the "It can't happen here" myth, ie "fascism can't happen here".

Germans know full well that fascism can happen in their own country. That's the difference.
