By sewing the third layer of leaves so that the leaves stand upward a little, I was able to give the pillow some more shape, and it all fits together much more nicely. There are still gaps between the leaves, which I hope won't make the whole pillow too fragile. But the changed geometry definitely reduced the gaps!
Pup's new red collar was whipped up by me this afternoon with material and hardware that had been salvaged from broken items. The clasps and D ring came from a puppy carrier that didn't last and the material was a strap on a reusable bag with a short lifespan. Anything that breaks, if I can't repair it, I salvage whatever I can for future projects.
Quite pleased with this! A quick and satisfying make! The other day I also made a big pillow, hemmed a blanket, and I sewed a headlamp onto my waist pack belt for an upcoming race. I will still wear a headlamp but it's nice to have a backup that lights up the ground right in front of me without looking down.
Please welcome Elfkin exclusive model, Chad, showing off the second kaftan commissioned by Bernie. This is designer print silk chiffon with a solid raspberry chiffon liner. I even managed to work some of that bias tape in as a finish on the inner hem.
just a reminder that poverty is always relative to the amounts of wealth and resources hoarded by the oligarchy, not by whatever material possessions are owned by the poor.
Here are finally the bags, and the patterns, I made some time ago. :blobfoxpeekowo:
I have two of them for sale, one with yellow/orange (summer) and one with pink/purple (spring) lining. They both have a super vibrant rainbow strap to carry. If you want any of them, both the bags and the pattern are available from the following links.
It feels great to be done #sewing my latest project, but now there’s what feels like a monumental task ahead of editing the video for #YouTube. @sewing
But before I get to that, I need to shoot #video of a new sewing project this week first.
If my health allows, this week I’ll be recording voiceover for a previous video, getting this latest one in queue and shooting footage for a new third video that may actually come first… At this rate, I may need to buy an additional hard drive soon!

Today's MeMade garments are a hat (crocheted), a skirt and bandanna (sewn), and a waistcoat and socks (knitted).
Here's a photo from last year of our cat putting her seal of approval (i.e. hair) on my hand-knitted sock collection. #MeMadeMay#knitting#socks#cat#sewing#crochet
Love how the chaos of this busy print gets balanced by orderly cutting.
Doing the pattern matching was a lot of fun - down to the "Rebel" insignia on the collar and game of chicken on the yoke. And yes, there is a pocket.
Only one I didn't plan out as well as I should have was the sleeves. Happy accident there! I was putting a fighter dead center on the sleeve head. The lines of the print just happen to line up near perfect the front.
He wore this to visit Star Wars land at Disneyland a couple years ago, and had people asking about it all day.
i'm learning to sew using a sewing machine. i have two second-hand sewing machines.
stuff breaks and threads jam and half the time i don't know if i did something wrong or the machine did something wrong.
it's tempting to quit. it's also tempting to think a new machine will fix all the problems. the "parent" in my head is trying to soothe me into being patient with the machines and with my learning process.
and then the catgirl in my head just wants to make a mess.
