@TheBreadmonkey Don't bother! Freeze the tofu instead (if it's firm or extra-firm), then marinate it in salt and whatever flavorings you want for about 30 min, drain, pat dry, fry, turning carefully, drain on a paper towel, and then make a sauce to pour over.

Just watched Barbie, and I'm more impressed than I thought I would be. While the pastel neon is, um, difficult, it was a very clever film, well made, well-written, excellent script, dialogue, development, brilliant satire and use of effects. I totally see why she didn't win the expected kudos for the first person to make a billion-dollar-grossing film. The bite of her satire is WAY too much for snowflake mens to handle.

@BootsChantilly The whole idea behind dry gardens is, you find ways of using gray water (from the house - kitchen, shower, sinks) filtered to remove dangerous substances, and buried underground in drip systems. It uses MUCH less water than surface watering. Of course in our area, surface watering is downright dangerous. Runoff and slippage.

@KatM @PandaChronicle Our go bag is packed and ready. This has been reality for us since 1989. Living in the fire zone AND the earthquake zone. Immediately after we bought the house, we had an earthquake, followed months later by a fire.

@KatM @PandaChronicle Every time I hear a fire engine, I'm like "Is it heading towards our house?" I love this woodsy, quiet area, but the drought caused so much die-off of trees, and not everybody is taking their dead trees down, endangering us all.

@PandaChronicle @KatM Not in the least. The earthquake did no damage, which surprised me, bc we live pretty close to a fault. It was scary, tho, watching the entire house and deck sway backwards and forwards AND side to side.

@Pineywoozle @PandaChronicle @KatM You should've seen this area after the fire gutted it. There was nothing standing except fireplaces and chimneys. House after house, burned to the ground. A fireproof safe, melted and twisted into a flowery sculpture. 3,500 houses burned to the ground. Nothing but ashes left. For a year afterwards, ashes were flying into our gardens. Burned scraps of books and letters.
