B/c it was not enough to silence her voice on the House floor, #Montana Republicans have banished Rep. #ZooeyZephyr from the state legislature for the rest of the session. She will not be permitted to represent her 11,000 constituents who elected her to speak for them. GOP lawmakers misgendered Zephyr & accused her of violating decorum by opposing their anti-trans bills & saying they would have “blood on their hands”. Protesters who supported her were arrested. This is what #fascism looks like.
You might have noticed that I boosted a few---or maybe 50---toots about duly-elected Representative #ZooeyZephyr being censured, silenced and oppressed by the #Montana House today. For speaking truth to power. For protecting her constituents.

As Judd Legum reports, when Mika Westwolf,a 31-year old Indigenous woman, was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Montana in March, authorities asked if she was a drug user or alcoholic.
This weekend, white nationalist Sunny White, who has named her children Aryan and Nation, was charged with this killing. Turns out White is a heavy drug user whose car was stewn with drugs and drug paraphenalia.
86% of #Indigenous people in America live outside reservations, often in cities like #Denver, #Seattle and #Portland, where they resettled following the Relocation Act (hi 👋 ).
Indigenous people comprise 2.6% of America’s population, but in 2023, they accounted for 3.9% of those experiencing homelessness. And the #housing inequity is worse in Western cities.
But building affordable housing for Natives is tricky.
(Of course, racial bias helps white people get housing all the time. In #Montana, #Minnesota and #NewMexico, white applicants have almost a 30% better chance of getting an apartment than #Indigenous folks.)
