At last a major Labour Party promise that most of us can get behind: Labour have committed to a full-scale (re)nationalisation of the UK rail system (with some allowance for small scale focussed private services on the nationalised system).

Lobbying by rail firms seems to have finally been unable to halt the realisation that for Labour this is a major & well-supported popular policy.

Now what would be good would them to apply the same logic to their economic/fiscal policy!

Glenn Kirschner:
If NY judge holds Trump in contempt, Trump will have VIOLATED release conditions in DC & GA cases!

“If judge Merchan finds that Trump violated the gag order and holds him in criminal contempt, Trump will have violated his conditions of release in his DC federal case, and Trump's pre-trial release should be revoked.”

@BenZaranko, an economist at the IFS, exposes the sleight-of-hand behind Sunak's claim to have found £75bn extra for defence spending.

To get the £75bn number, the government has assumed a baseline with spending frozen in cash terms and then added up all of the differences. If you instead assume a baseline of spending frozen as a % GDP, it's an extra £20 billion over 6 years.

Even with national security, you can't trust the Tories.

This should be a lesson for all those repeating the BS story about Biden plans to put sanctions on IDF's "Netzah Yehuda Battalion"

This is said even before Biden doing anything, and of course US will sanction a battalion of an army they protect, arm and fund.
