I used to be a bit anti #Halloween (US import, commercial etc) but have really changed my mind through children these last few years. It is just lovely - everyone out together, children everywhere, and so many really great house decorations - so much effort and generosity just for everyone’s joy and community. I need to say this: it's exciting to have a budget healthy enough to start building a marketing & communications team for @thunderbird.
Those of you who know me, know that I've been preaching how important marketing is to the sustainability of open-source projects.
That's why it's so refreshing to work for an organization that recognizes the crucial need to invest in building and nurturing both our user and developer communities.
The Discord bridge to/from Matrix is operative! How does it work though?
Whenever you'll write a message on Discord the same message will be copy-pasted into Matrix in the corresponding room!
And what about the message written on Matrix side? The same thing will happen in this case, with Bridget (the bridge-bot, duh!) impersonating the Matrix user and writing the message on Discord.
It’s been fed back to me (offline) that some of you here are finding my relentless negativity too much. I know - have been conscious of that too (i really have had a bit of a dip), and I am sorry.
So in an attempt to be more positive again: we had a lovely rainbow 🌈 here in #Eastbourne. I shared a picture on our street WhatsApp group and so many others shared theirs and we decided to see it as a sign of hope! #Community#Hope#MagicInTheCity
So community friends: what’s the difference between a community having a mid-life crisis (needing vision and clarity, but still worth keeping) and a community that needs hospice care (a beloved sendoff and closing rituals)? Are there better terms for this? How do you respectfully raise this question in the community itself?
Addendum: By "nobody is pushing hate speech," I mean that no company, owner of the Social Network, can deliberately and aggressively force posts with hate speech onto users solely for the purpose of selling more ads. This does not imply that there is no hate speech - unfortunately, this is a problem that also spreads in the Fediverse, and the tools are not always adequate.
