For some reason custom building blocks stopped working for me in . Anyone else experienced this?

I'm on a Google Workspace Education Fundamentals license.

So now Google Bard has, finally, become Gemini.

I'm so old I can remember when people on Mastodon used content warnings for politics

Why do you like Mastodon (or any open source Fediverse app of your choosing) the most? (You can choose multiple choices)

Boosts appreciated for reach.

teachpaperless,

@juergen_hubert still not sure why Google shut down Plus before it had a chance to hit its stride.

teachpaperless,

@juergen_hubert that's probably it. They want to be first or scale very fast else it's a bust, in their view.

I need to think much harder on the 'why' of my planned blogging or podding platform.

teachpaperless,

@ocken yeah I'm thinking about stuff that Synek talked about a lot lately :)

It's a podcasting project I've been mulling over for a couple of months. Thought I had some kind of recipe going but turns out it didn't work.

I wonder if the reasoning behind Googles sudden name change of Bard to Gemini is that they believe that Bard is seen as second to ChatGPT and therefore needs a ‘fresh’ start? I like the name Bard, better than Gemini.

rollspelosofen, to random Swedish

#rollspel

teachpaperless,

@rollspelosofen rollspelet är åtminstone väldigt trevligt. Hur var serien?

Ok, made the switch to #Firefox and wondering what extensions people recommend. I’ve installed Badger, Facebook Container, Search By Image, and Dark Background and Light Text.

PS - this was an EASY switch!

teachpaperless,

@tasket blocking all ads isn’t a great strategy tho since the sites you use and appreciate often depend on ads to support themselves. Personally I try to pick and choose very consciously.

teachpaperless,

@tasket that's interesting and in some parts more than I knew, thank you.

How do you, personally as an enlightened and learned individual, go about supporting sites you wish to be sustainable?

teachpaperless,

@tasket blocking trackers I'm all for. Supporting with subscriptions I do for a few outlets. Else I'm accepting ads (on the Verge or the Guardian, for example).

teachpaperless,

@tasket is that what you do, or do you simply put your security concerns over other peoples jobs?

Finally managed to find a TODO App that I'm using for ALL tasks/chores and, wait for it: I am using it for WEEKS now, DAILY! It is synchable, colorful and easy to use...

It makes all my TODO dreams come true:

teachpaperless,

@rebekka_m I’m constantly on the lookout for better tasmanagers and this look really promising! Do you have any opinion on the differences between this and Google Tasks?

A new question about the remote podcasting platform SquadCast: Would you interpret the "/editor" as in me and my co-host need a separate paying account or could we, for example, share login credentials to essentially halve the costs (1x12 instead of 2x12 per month)?

https://squadcast.fm/pricing/

teachpaperless, to opensource

Tried SquadCast for my remote recording session with my friend and colleague. It's very good and smooth that we both have video in app plus separate recordings for every participant. But: it's rather expensive!

Anyone have suggestions for voice/sound recordings for remote sessions that's cheaper?

#podcasting #opensource #sharing #free #podcast #squadcast

teachpaperless,

@jontromans thanks! Will check it out immediately!

teachpaperless,

@CrackedWindscreen how do you use StreamYard? For audio only or videocasting too?

teachpaperless,

@CrackedWindscreen thanks! ☺️

Once again, a Swedish politician has been featured in an article in one of the country's most widely read newspapers. The article discusses how reading among children and students is being hindered by 'screens.' The politician demands that schools should buy more books and, in the process, reduce screen time.

What are your thoughts of this dilemma: are screens, in fact, a threat to reading? Can we have education without 'screens'?

teachpaperless,

@florianwarnecke I wholeheartedly agree!
