This afternoon I had to send some promo material to @fsfe supporters, and to do so I had to find a post box 📮 nearby.

I looked for “Mailbox” in @organicmaps and I got it, just a few meters from the office.

Is there any other database that locates even mail boxes? Only @openstreetmap 🚀

Aus gegebenem Anlass möchte ich daher hier dazusagen, dass #BaldursGate3 auf #Linux unter #Wine funktioniert. Auch ohne Steam (bei GOG gekauft). Bei mir nicht in höchster Qualität (mit der eher schwachen onboard-Grafikkarte nicht anders zu erwarten …), aber gut genug, dass es Spaß macht.

⇒ Ihr braucht Windows nichtmal mehr fürs Spielen.

Das Ding ist ja: Ich stehe den großen Parteien so leidenschaftslos gegenüber, dass ich dann eben in der Stadt parteiunabhängig politisch engagiere.
ABER: Wenn Landtags- oder Bundestagswahlen anstehen, dann wähle ich fucking Parteien, die das kleinere Übel sind.
Halte ich die Grünen für nen relativ prinzipienlosen Haufen? Ja!
Wähle ich sie trotzdem, weil sie die am wenigsten unangenehme Alternative sind? Ebenfalls ja!
Weil es viel zu gefährlich ist die Demokratie den Rechten zu überlassen.

@FrauMaja eigentlich müsste man kollektiv ungültig und z.B. D.K. auf Wahlzettle schreiben für etwas wie dem "Demokratischen Konförderalismus" wie in Rojava. Wäre gespannt wie viele dabei mit machen, natürlich mit entwprechender vorheriger aufklärung in der ganzen gesellschaft.

otherwise i am going with #OSMAnd, tried most of the others but were not particularly happy with the configuration possibilities.

In conversation w a friend, she was surprised when I said we won't have electricity after social collapse. She asked "why? What happens to electricity?"

I had to then explain that infrastructure needs people to maintain and if things fall apart, nobody will keep the generators going or the wires in check. She seemed surprised by this.

Is this why people don't seem worried about what's coming? They have no idea???

I was trying to hide my shock that I had to explain this to someone who isn't a child. I think I take too much for granted and assume too much of people's ability to be logical.

Now her obsession with social issues at the expense of makes sense. I was always wondering how someone on the left would not care about collapse. I have tried to explain before that as much as I share her concerns about the many dire issues that do need dealing with, none of it matters if climate change causes collapse. Then we won't have social housing, or equity, or any of the other things she cares about. (she was even part of a group that protested demanding "affordable gas")

Her look of shock finally helped me realize that she has absolutely no idea what means. No idea. I've been arguing with her all these years and she's had no idea.

I don't even know what to say.

There's no way she's the only one. Lots of well intentioned people say "yes climate is important but....".

I am here to tell you that none of those other issues will even exist in the face of climate and social collapse.

I don't know if the average person can even imagine the number of deaths that we are facing when the society we built loses electricity.

have written "if it comes to this there would be" exactly because of what you wrote.
i think we are able to avert the worst, but for big cities there are just to many people without knowledge and no interest in learning (right now) at least the basics about how to use a compost toilet or similar things. so there probably would be at least one outbreak in the beginning until people take "how to shit compost" lessons.

Probably not a practical idea... but a satisfying one.

@futurebird wondering how this will optimize for "highest average life expectancy" what isn't that bad in itself.

would although add the requirement that the government has to be formed by a selection of people who (to a certain degree) match a graph of the income/wealth of the whole population.
like we have 0.1% who make 1000$/s, have 0.1% of those in the government, 10% who make 100000/year, then its 10% of those in, and 50% making just minimum wage, then 50% of the gov. are those…

    My Autumnal Plaid Corset Skirt!

    It's a 3\4 circle skirt and the corset portion is fully-boned.

    My anniversary is in two weeks and I think I might wear this out to dinner.

    This was my first attempt at a circle skirt, at using the grommet tool, and at using a tool to add metal aglets to the ends of the lacing ribbon.

    i had my (realising i needed to really act about climate) in Feb 2019 and have tried so many different things since. But right now, for the first time, I feel completely “spent”. Obviously hasn’t gone away; it’s more my own issues (mostly i think debilitating sense of guilt and hypocrisy). Have any of you ever had these points, and how did you work your way out again? Or anyone feeling this just now, too?

    @pvonhellermannn Having these feelings almost all the time, currently taken a big step back and am focusing my free time on projects that do not crash into all the nasty barriers all the time.
    like #OSM contribution mainly for better #bike navigation, #acessibility data and info about #vegan food places so its easier to take better decisions for everyone in daily life.

    still feeling like i am not doing enough but i do not have the time and energy to do more besides work at the moment.

    Graphing calculators are dead. Long live graphing calculators.

    With the SAT going all digital and desmos.com and geogebra providing spectacular visuals the days of the graphing calculator seem numbered.

    But I have a bold vision for a calculator that would grow with students needs and teach more than math tricks.

    Just as I've developed a curriculum where students learn about numbers, through to irrationals by making their own wooden ruler this calculator would be a multi-year project. 1/

    @heiglandreas @etua_en @smallcircles I have experienced googles place recommendations to be widely inaccurate. Probably because unhappy people are more likely to write bad reviews and then there are a hell ton of ones who buy good ones. And if you as e.g. a café start to get inaccurate reviews its nearly impossible to get rid of those, has cost several nice places their existence.

    The only thing that Google excels at right now is traffic data.

    @ZDF Zum glück nutzt ihr den Alt text, weil der auf dem bild ist selbst für mich als scharf sehende person quasi unlesbar da der hintergrund keinen guten kontrast zum text bildet.
    vorallem die ganzen hellen linien/muster auf dunklem grund hinter dem text machen es besonders schwer.

    empfehle einen dunkleren hintergrund oder den text nocheinmal in stark verschwommen und dunkel als "schatten" hinter dem eigentlichen text zu setzen.
