You know, it's kinda funny to be an anarchist....and work as a manager. Even more interesting is that I'm reminded again how easy it is to not just be authoritarian in doing it too.

One of the ways I think I look at this differently than most folks is that my experience as a neurodivergent person makes it impossible to not notice that executive function - decision-making, prioritizing, budgeting resources, etc. - is a form of labor itself. So rather than see my role as telling people what to do, I collaborate with them to see what executive function labor I can do that eases their workload, while always leaving it open for them to ask me to do it differently or take that work back on if they need to.

Importantly though, when meaningful decision-making needs to happen, I collaborate with all stakeholders - staff, volunteers, people we're serving - to provide direction and consensus. Organizing this is labor too. This is what I treat as my job too.

Reminds me a lot of the "Zweckhirarchie" sadly i do not know (or could find) a good English translation for this concept.
Maybe "purposeful hierarchy" would convey it sufficiently.

People only taking positions of power for limited amounts of time and in consent of everyone else involved.

Firefighters are a common example because there you really need someone coordinating while they do their job, but outside these situations its not really necessary to have these "leaders"

If you write, PLEASE know that your labor and expertise have value. Reputable publications pay their writers. Sketchy publications solicit free labor. And scammers charge you to be published.

    When editing on the go, @everydoor is my hands-down favorite, but I'd hesitate recommending it for more new mappers.

    I've been playing with just now, and really like how easy it is, maybe even for new contributors.

    Plus, it's a progressive web app that runs in a browser, or installable in your device: https://osmgo.com , so this also seems to be a great candidate tool to introduce as a friendly editor for @openstreetmap mapping parties for new users.

    @strypey @MapAmore @openstreetmap @everydoor they are. there is although SCEE (Street complete Extended Edition) that allows for a lot more tags to be edited and some more nifty customization options. Its on F-Droid too.

    @strypey @MapAmore @openstreetmap @everydoor if you haven't contributed to osm at all i recommend starting out with street complete get a little feel for what data can be atatched to what kind of nodes.
    would recommend https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Beginners%27_guide anyways, no matter what way you want to contribute by.

    if you are willing to do a bit of reading in the wiki, i like the editing plugin for OsmAnd, there you can add some other tags that are not implemented in SC (yet) on the road, i addition to SC.

    @strypey @MapAmore @openstreetmap @everydoor but everydoor should be able to take this roll too. and its a little bit smoother in the workflow than the OsmAnd plugin. I didnt know about everydoor back when i started and got quite used to the OsmAnd way.

    Ich verstehe, dass die beiden Admins bei einem unbezahlt in der Freizeit betriebenen Angebot selber die Regeln festlegen. Ihr gutes Recht.

    Wer über Politik reden will, sollte woanders hingehen, denn das ist da ungefiltert nicht erwünscht, ganz einfach.

    Das Problem: Es wird wahrgenommen als 'die' Instanz der Chaos-Familie, des CCC, und der ist nun mal sehr politisch, weswegen sich viele dort zuhause fühl(t)en, ging mir auch so. Das ist halt die ..

    there’s a google ad atm for some photo tool that can ‘fix’ everyone’s expression in a photo so you get the smiliest result. sometimes i really question what must go on in the minds of senior tech people.
