Good. More reporting on the institutional insurrection underway. Gift link:

#Trump Tues night on the conservative network #Newsmax:
“I said, ‘Wouldn’t it really be bad? … wouldn’t it be terrible to throw the president’s wife & the fmr secretary of state — think of it, the fmr secretary of state — but the president’s wife into #jail? … But they want to do it … So, you know, it’s a terrible, terrible path that they’re leading us to, & it’s very possible that it’s going to HAVE TO HAPPEN to them.”
Good for New Jersey and for Andy Kim on his winning the New Jersey US Senate primary.
I'd read about Kim in 2018 and was impressed. He unseated one of the architects of the failed Paul Ryan plan to repeal the ACA.
In the middle of the night after Jan. 6, Kim cleaned up garbage from insurrectionists at the US Capitol. He was acting alone, doing his part. I hope he wins in November.
Project 2025 (the GOP's 900-page plan to end our democracy as we know it if Trump wins in November) aims to restrict contraception access nationwide.
Today, Democrats are fighting back against Republicans' escalating attacks on our reproductive freedom. The Senate will vote this afternoon on the Right to Contraception Act, which would stop any state or the federal government from blocking access to contraception.
Montana deserves a Senator who represents them and will protect their rights from extremists. Make your voice heard! Go vote for Jon Tester, a 3rd generation Montana farmer. In his words, “Democracy only works if we do." #BlueWaveRising#DemCast
The Washington Post is about to lurch sharply to the right politically as former Murdoch apparatchik solidifies his grip on the organization. Current editor Buzbee is out, and he's bringing in people from Murdoch's Wall Street Journal and the Telegraph (right-wing UK news org).
People can tell themselves whatever lie they want about not voting for Biden. It still amounts to a lack of maturity in thinking opting out sends a message, of empathy for those who will suffer under Trump, and of logic for the stakes in 2024.
Read about Project 2025 and decide if you want to vote to unleash that on the nation and world. Because not voting is still a vote--a vote that says the world can burn unless you get everything you want. Decide which side you're on. #VoteBlue
In 2020, 80 million Americans — about one-third of the potential electorate — did not vote in the presidential election. Turnout this year appears likely to be about the same. Perhaps that’s because, according to a YouGov poll, only 18 percent of Americans fear that their country could become a dictatorship in their lifetimes. That may be a fatal failure of imagination. https://wapo.st/3Kt3t6O
If Republicans are going to accuse Biden of weaponizing the Justice system, then:
They better damn well have better evidence than an independent grand jury indicted Trump, Trump got a fair trial, and an independent jury found him guilty on all charges, and
They better damn well reject the Project 2025 framework and Trump's promises to weaponize the Justice system.
One thing: I really wish the MSM would stop saying "hush money to a porn star" and "cover up an affair". He was convicted of ELECTIONS FRAUD. This matters. Having sex (barely consensual if it all) with a porn actor is NOT illegal, nor is lying about it to your wife. Spending campaign money to influence an election by manipulation of information and the media: Illegal. This is about elections and core democratic principles.
All of this "Democrats should worry about tit for tat" is beyond hypocritical. Democrats did not do tit-for-tat against GWB after the ginned up Clinton Impeachment. Democrats didn't do it to Trump after GOP tried the same thing with Obama nor when they refused to support legislation they normally would under Obama. Trump already tried to make the US AG and DOJ his personal law firm. He directly interfered with investigations against cronies and his family. Meanwhile Democratic congressional members and the Biden's own son are under active investigation and criminal cases for stuff that was shady as fuck, in the case of Menedez, or wouldn't normally have gone this far in the case of some of Hunter's charges. Republicans were already going to use these things without the pretense they are presenting here because one of their own was finally held to account. #uspoli#rant
Each page yesterday took him just a little more than a minute, so this will take >30 mins.
Between that & the testimony readbacks, also expected to take >30 mins, there will likely be >1 hour this morning w/the jury in the courtroom, not actively deliberating.
Holy hell, #TuckerCarlson just said that #Trump would still win the election “if he’s not killed first,” & said that “anyone who defends this verdict is a danger to you & your family.”
#FoxNews pundits denounced the #verdict. “It’s inconceivable in New York that anyone else other than Donald Trump would be indicted in this way,” said Andy McCarthy, a legal analyst. Jeanine Pirro called the case “riddled with errors” & declared, “We have gone over a cliff in America.”
