One theory why polls, pollsters, and pundits should be ignored and citizens should be the first to speak in an election...

I think I just finished a draft of an afterword for an academic book about the formation of the role of publisher in the early modern period. Many fascinating chapters and lessons. I pray my contribution will be worthy.

I would declare publishers to be the most guilty parties in screwing up the web with their attention economy of advertising importated into it, their flooding of the net with crap under their belief that they must fill any vessel with their content, their fraudulent clickbait, and their walls.
You?

In The Web We Wave (plug #2) I argue the time has come to demote the geeks, recognizing that the Internet is less a technology than a human network that reflects our success and failures. Thus I'm working on new academic programs to bring the humanities and social sciences into leadership of the net's (and AI's) future.

Can't blame a feller for trying, eh?

"Currently, experimental studies should not be used to support the conclusion that social media use is associated with mental health. Taken at surface value, mean effect sizes are no different from zero. Put very directly, this undermines causal claims by some scholars (e.g., Haidt, 2020; Twenge, 2020) that reductions in social media time would improve adolescent mental health."

What the hell is "superalignment"? When the "safety" people buy the BS of AGI, it's hard to know whether to take them seriously. We need safety without the superlatives, grounded in present-tense reality, not macho computer dreams and nightmares.
