I switch over to Fox while awaiting the verdict, and already they are complaining about "so much unconstitutional thumb on the scale by the judge." They are institutional insurrectionists.

I'll be going to SFO, Sacramento, and Petaluma next week and I'm already plotting paths to avoid certain of many bridges. Golden Gate: Maybe but very reluctantly. Bay: Never! It collapsed! San Mateo: Possibly; long but not suspended.

@jeffjarvis talking about podcasting: "It was never meant to be a mass medium, it shouldn't have been a mass medium." #TWiG ep. 770

Jeff, couldn't the same thing have been said about books? Then that damned GUTENBERG came along and ruined it by bringing them to the masses?

jeffjarvis,
@jeffjarvis@mastodon.social avatar

@brad
Actually, in The Gutenberg Parenthesis, I argue it was not movable type but instead the mechanization & industrialization of print with rotary, steam-powered presses, the Linotype, cheap paper made in rolls from wood, and stereotyping that upended the scale of media. Before that, the average circulation of a daily newspaper in the US was 4,000. Afterwards....

No, no, no! Use the one last shred of self-respect you have, Senator, and stop. Leave the Senate. Stop embarrassing yourself, your children, and our state. Do not dare lose the Senate for us.

A journalist almost takes responsibility for the misinformed public: "Many commentators...blame the media for the public’s economic illiteracy." But then she turns the blame on us: "If the media has a bad-news bias, that’s because our audiences have a bad-news bias, too." Journalists are incapable of meaningful self-reflection, incapable of taking responsibility.
