The speed of light inside the event horizon of a black hole is very, very difficult to measure.

I would say first to develop a newer and better theory of gravity, and then you can draw new inferences. Quit pretending the current theory is fully correct, when Einstein himself sought to replace it.

Busted: GOP Senate candidate running on rural roots grew up 'three miles from a Trader Joe's'

@br00t4c Shoreview is second tier suburb. It is where you start seeing Republican instead of Democratic dominated voting. Turtle Lake is at its northern end, and is wedged between a gigantic Superfund site (the former Arden Hills Army Ammunition Plant) and North Oaks, which is a gated community of zillionaires.

@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@br00t4c I'll bet I know which house he grew up in. There were these people who were a public nuisance, you see ...

I didn't live there but my stepdaughter used to live in a group home in the area.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@br00t4c I did long ago live in Arden Hills near the Ammunition Plant, which was enormous. I was near Land o' Lakes, as well. So think about where the butter comes from.

(It comes from Wisconsin, silly.)

I bought some WiseBond deep pour epoxy during their overstock sale but maybe I should get some of their thin pour (i.e. "tabletop").

Just for the sake of trying it.

I already have bottles of FGCI tabletop to try (I like FGCI epoxies, though while curing they smell faintly like rotting fish, instead of candy the way Chinese epoxies often do) and some jugs of TotalBoat tabletop for a senior citizens ingress and egress project for my home.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

Are the Chinese epoxies producing lactic acid? Printing with poly(lactic acid) filament is supposed to smell like candy.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

Maybe it is simply a difference in the solvents chosen for the components.

You know, somehow I manage to use Facebook and Instagram and not be Nazilated. What I encounter is mostly the usual Jews I have known most of my life.

Certainly Twitter is Nazified, but I cannot comprehend what in Sheol some of you are talking about. And don't bother trying to explain it, because you are wrong.

I mold buttons from epoxy, and want to sew them onto 1960s style jumper dresses because I like those things. But this would be anachronistic. They weren't using epoxy so much back then. Plus I can't sew and have no one to make such things for.

Imagine me, retro dress designer. Except with transparent, glitter-filled epoxy buttons he molded himself. Using food grade epoxy! (I used Art N Glo.)

I'm ongoingly confused by folks who think they have to convince "third party voters" they are supporting Trump. These voters are not your electoral allies. They might be your friends but they are people who vote on different principles than avoiding Trump. They do not seriously wish to avoid Trump.

excellent, concise piece that not only explains the seriousness of the interference case (aka the hush money case, which is more salacious-sounding and therefore used more often) but the incorrect arguments, offered by some and (this coverage contributed to my dropping the , I believe it was a piece poo-pooing the case) about the seriousness of the case (buttressed of course by calling it the hush money case).

@cindyweinstein Concise, yes. That is a very pleasing change from the usual dreck!

It seems difficult to imagine Trump not being convicted. Odd things can happen, though.

I am quickly reaching the end of my ability to paint anymore.

(Which is good because I am quickly reaching the end of my time off in which to paint.)

@APBBlue Sometimes people make zany patterns by mixing black walnut and maple, say, shaped carefully. I suppose for an end grain board you could do this with carving tools on individual segments and glue them together all at once (perhaps with a band clamp, though they provide only 50 pounds clamping force).

(I recently got some pipe clamps. Using steel plumbing to clamp the wood. Now that is clamping force. And Titebond III is very wet, so the wood becomes flexible once you brush it on.)

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@APBBlue A popular material. I have made sealing wax stamps from it (see my pixelfed and IG) and plan to make a rocker blotter. I have a lot of scraps and cutoffs from which to make such things.

That's what I buy. Boxes of junk wood. I love grab bags, even though what is in them is literally garbage. It is so interesting. Scrap metal, fallouts and samples from silicone mold production, bags of electronics parts, etc.

chemoelectric,
@chemoelectric@masto.ai avatar

@APBBlue I love cherry. It is light but very hard.

Oak is like nails but has a very open grain. It is popular for end grain boards. Our house interior is trimmed in oak.

@APBBlue Do you know what I have that is fun and which most do not have? A set of taps and dies for wood dowels. :) I can make screws from wood.

@APBBlue Black walnut is a big tree, so if you buy scraps you are likely to get pieces that are merely segments of wood from near gigantic knots. It is not the best scrap wood, therefore. But smells citrusy.

The fruit smells citrusy. The squirrels eat only the nut, though, throwing out the fruit flesh, and prefer white walnut, which is sweeter. They collect both kinds and store them by placing them on top of the bricks just below our doorbell. I do not know where the trees are.

@APBBlue Here is a tip a custom home builder might also have. If the kit comes with those Toggler wall anchors, substitute Fischer DuoPower anchors or anything else you can think of. Put the Toggler anchors in a protective pentagram or something and get a team of priests to exorcise them.

Rubbermaid may want you to use these things, for instance. Resist the urge. I know, because the demons released have destroyed parts of my walls.
