Dear Reader,

"Did Johnson have a 'Come to Jesus' moment where he put his morality ahead of Trump's need to please Putin? The jury is still out."

Speaker Mike Johnson said he will "take personal risk" by pushing ahead with his plans for a House vote on foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as fellow Republican representatives continue to call for him to vacate the chair

"Did Johnson have a 'Come to Jesus' moment where he put his morality ahead of Trump's need to please Putin?"

🤣🤣🤣
Most certainly not.

Probably gave him the go-ahead not wanting to be seen as the man who almost singlehandedly had destroyed (with a little help from his comrades, right Товарищ Дональд?)

On a more serious note:

Maybe Putler has told him that the accrued delays are now sufficient for the surely coming spring offensive.

LET'S HOPE 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Speaker Mike Johnson announced he is sticking with his plan to put a series of foreign aid bills on the floor, including funding for Ukraine, after facing significant pressure from hardliners.

“After significant Member feedback and discussion, the House Rules Committee will be posting soon today the text of three bills that will fund America’s national security interests and allies in Israel, the Indo-Pacific, and Ukraine.

I'm wondering if the statements made by people like Johnson and Gaetz to the press as well into our congressional record could be used to obtain warrants since they're so clearly pro-Putin?

I miss having access to lawyers with both national security and constitutional law experience like Brad Moss over on twitter. Perhaps @Teri_Kanefield or @emptywheel would know or could ask their colleagues over on that foul site if it's an interesting/pertinent question.

Higher density living is changing the way neighborhoods work in Canada

To contribute to this challenge, our research examines what we do and do not know about neighbors in densifying Canadian cities.

(Note: I sent the editor an email suggesting they invest in a copy of the Oxford English dictionary because "We do not use the US bastardized version of the English language")

In saying that, you are aware that #AmericanEnglish is, in many aspects, more original than British English b/c Noah Webster was so far ahead in his time in preparing his famous dictionary.
Also, have you had the change to place a full printed edition of Webster's next to the Oxford's Dictionary?
Even discounting the many neologisms, Webster has more than 1 million words, many more than Oxford's Dictionary or the German Duden.

Yes, I can totally support that. Being professionals, they would need a CAN editor.

I haven't consciously analyzed too many Canadian texts, but I have read tons of articles and books by British authors. It is not just the spelling. A lot of words are different, too (subway, underground, etc.)
I'm not sure that I could write a longer text in British Englush w/o any Americanisms, though.

With all due respect, asking the wrong questions rarely leads to the right answers, let alone solutions that work.

And if assumptions are incorrect, an analysis is incomplete or even faulty, the deductions and conclusions can never be correct, even if they sound reasonable
