8 #Republican senators announced Fri they would boycott #Democratic#legislative priorities & nominations as payback for #Trump’s #guilty#verdict.
In a joint statement, the senators said they would not “allow any increase to non-security related funding for this administration, or any appropriations bill which funds partisan lawfare.”
Yes, yes, we've reached the dumbularity, where the intelligence of technology has advanced to such a great level, people don't know their own phone number. https://mashable.com/article/what-is-my-phone-number
@angiebaby@peteriskrisjanis@GGMcBG@GottaLaff The lack of addressing the removal of the voting rights act made me lose faith. Directly after a coup attempt based around ridiculous cheating claims, while watching SCOTUS play partisan with gerrymandering, and watching states that were removed from watch lists immediately jump in to racist bullshit. Pretending that voting rights was a partisan interference is the dumbest thing ever. If a party I'd against voting, then yes, be against them.
#Musk is a free-speech absolutelynotist.
"This is why right-wing #billionaires sue people reporting on them," continued Collins, who previously worked as a reporter for #NBC News covering, among other thing, right-wing disinformation. "They know they can't win these lawsuits. But they also know legal fees will cripple the little guy reporting on their lies & crimes. This is how free speech is actually chilled—vengeful dipshit billionaires.
"This is the latest example of billionaires & pandering politicians abusing the legal system to retaliate against their critics & harm the public's right to know,"" https://www.commondreams.org/news/elon-musk-media-matters-suit
@KeithDJohnson why don't they use the J&J playbook and just spin off a subsidiary that can get sued into oblivion with minimal impact on the parent company.
Also, why are they posting on X to complain about how X mistreats them?
If the suffering of Black people is invisible to you, then you miss so much of what's going on in the world. But if you can see Black people as entire human beings, then a few things immediately become apparent:
Most hate comes from fans, not other players. Other players have only said, "Caitlin will be great. But even great rookies struggle adjusting to the competition level of the WNBA." Fans send death threats + racist slurs.
Angel Reese gets much more hate than Caitlin Clark.
@palin@gregggonsalves keep defining correct protest methods around everyone else's convenience, and suddenly the only protest allowed is sitting around and accepting atrocity
@StillIRise1963 it wasn't a joke 4 years ago when so many people were mobilized to stop the nonsense that was staring at us. Now that it hasn't happened I am worried about apathy.
For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.
From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."
Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.
The most ridiculous thing about US notions of decorum, is that people are expected to be silent when Black women are attacked.🤷🏿♂️
If a Black woman is attacked and no one says anything, it's allowed to slide. But if a Black woman is attacked and people say anything in response, either calmly and politely like AOC did, or with an in-kind response like Crockett did, then all the "neutral" parties come pouring out of the woodwork, worried about "decorum."
@mekkaokereke I loved Crockets comeback. She is a hero. I almost fell out of my seat when she asked specifically about what she would be allowed to say.
And the mtg question of "did I hurt your feelings" is an admission from a bully.
If you plant a tree every day, in a lifetime you will plant a forest.
Our habits make us, #composting is a very rewarding habit, if you do it every day, in a matter of years you will be able to fix your topsoil, #GrowYourOwn plants, and create abundance.
You will also do your part in putting the carbon back into the #soil and help balance the #climate.
@compost I'm so proud of this little guy. Most of the good trees have been cut for construction, and the large hardwoods are a scary thin line. Maybe I can slowly stretch this into a forest that doesn't look like it will tip over
@ai6yr masks on planes is a spectacularly good idea. All of my business travel has people getting sick on the trip. The people masking on the plane are never the sick ones
It's strange to me when I see people get upset about people doing good deeds, and posting it online.
"They're just doing it for attention!"
Yeah, so what? I'd much rather see people doing nice things for attention, than the people who do mean pranks or wasting food. A good deed is still good, even if it's done for the wrong reasons.
@RickiTarr I was taught that a good deed doesn't count if anyone sees it. That kind of makes sense and I still do many things anonymously because of it. But anyone who says a "good deed doesn't count" is entirely fucked up.
I also firmly believe to never assume motives. I don't care why someone does a good thing. I only want everyone to keep passing good actions around
@ai6yr at first I questioned the grassroots nature of so many protests at the same time using the same techniques (and a lot of matching tents) .
Now I question how it's possible for ALL of the administration's to employ the police in the same way, even after seeing how poorly it turns out. Who the hell is advising campuses to beat more children?
@flexghost I hope no one forgets the reason that party of cretins is turning. They showed who they are and they were going to lose everything. I hope their fans remember these years come November
I'm still not onto Black history. I'm still on white US history.
Q: Why were Black folk so happy when OJ was acquitted? To be honest, it feels disgusting. Why does it seem like you're happy he got away with murder?
A: Racism. Black folk did not like OJ that much. In fact, many Black people think he did it. Black folk didn't "celebrate OJ." Black folk celebrated the hope that a brutally unjust, evil, and racist system, could be defeated at all.
