Some bozo ran over nearly every cone on the eastbound side of the demonstration bicycle lane here in Thousand Oaks. Must have been more than two dozen cones down. Drunk driver? Someone who doesn't like bicycle lanes? Or someone who has a grudge against cones? (ps. this is why separated, not coned off, lanes are better)

Achievement unlocked. Went to the farmer's market on a combo of bus and bike. Learned many lessons... #BikeTooter

ai6yr,

Bonus another car in our demonstration bicycle lane. A car had eirher nudged a post out of place, or a driver moved one, or something here... #BikeTooter #ThousandOaks

Today’s opening of the Conejo Canyons bridge in Hill Canyon is excellent news for hikers, cyclists, and public safety. Hikers and cyclists will no longer have to share the single-lane road with trucks entering/leaving the Hill Canyon wastewater treatment plant.

And because the bridge connects Hill Canyon with the Western Plateau in Newbury Park, first responders and public works employees no longer will have to travel out of town via the Camarillo grade to reach either end of the Conejo Canyons.

We are incredibly fortunate to live in such a beautiful area. Hope you get out and enjoy it!

My lunch break biking adventure. Checked out the demo of Class IV bicycle lanes ouf town, Thousand Oaks, is planning locally.

ai6yr,

First note: I have my doubts on the intent of this project, as it is an approved project but the signage says "Proposed". Cc @TOCCNewman #ThousandOaks #BikeTooter

ai6yr,

More comments. 3. The transition from Green to Orange to Red on traffic lights needs to be adjusted to bicycle speeds!!! I got caught in two intersections entering on green and not being able to cross before it turned orange/red and having traffic in lanes! (going uphill... I was not moving fast enough to cross in time on the traffic light. I would have been safer and stopping at the pedestrian walk and hitting the "walk" button).

ai6yr,
  1. Interestingly enough, there's an existing extra-wide sidewalk along the side of the mall (private property) which, for a utility cyclist not looking to get squished by cars, could be utilized successfully for traversing this part of town. Fine for those of us plodding along for "run errands", but I don't think the fitness cyclists would be able to use it at their normal speeds... #BikeTooter #ThousandOaks

Woohoo! It's "try out the new bicycle lane day" for me sometime. (unfortunately, will have to drive my bicycle over there to try this out, due to distance and lack of time/safe routes there....a wee bit beyond my range at the moment) #ConejoValley #ThousandOaks #BikeTooter

GREAT opportunity for those in the Conejo Valley/Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park. There is an opportunity for $250 in FREE PLANTS (plus help) to convert your yard into a native garden from the local Audubon society. #gardening #ThousandOaks #ConejoValley #garden #free #grant #plants https://wp.conejovalleyaudubon.org/conservation/lawns-to-habitat/

Volunteer bingo! In a characteristically fun and creative event, the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library thanked the dozens of volunteers who assist staff in making our libraries so consistently excellent. Most played “volunteer appreciation bingo” and several brought service animals.

Volunteers help with everything from cataloging to programming to book sales (both in-person and online). We are very fortunate for the Friends, and for such fine libraries.

Interesting, plan to make it easier for bicyclists and pedestrians to access area in our town. I'm curious how many folks are "thinking outside the box" vs. just sidewalks. 🤔

Charity weekend! On Saturday evening Bob and Sue Engler and I attended Senior Concerns’ annual fundraiser, supporting this nonprofit’s essential services for older residents.

On Sunday we were back for the Many Mansions Bowls of Hope event, where we joined Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Ventura County CEO Dr. Sevet Johnson (pictured here with VCOE superindent Dr. Antonio Castro), and many other local community leaders in serving up tasty soups to hundreds of attendees interested in housing for everyone.

Delighted to say both events drew full-house crowds.
