In modern times, when rich people levy taxes against poor people to support their lavish lifestyles, they don't use government to do it. They use corporations. We call these private sector taxes "profits", and we have been effectively sold the lie that they are not only just, but beneficial to us, and necessary for our economic survival.
We have to do it again. Just like we pushed them out of government, and replaced them with government for the people, by the people, we must do the same to the corporate world. We must tear down the apparatus by which they steal the food off our tables to support their luxurious lifestyles. We must implement companies run for the people, by the people: #cooperatives. Cooperative-based economies are to oligarchies what democracies are to aristocracies.
i see so many people today fired from jobs and immediately looking to go wage slaving for some other corporation.
please consider alternatives. band together, build cooperatives. let's claw back some amount of control over our lives. i, for one, am sick of corporate feudal lords and am looking for accomplices for an escape.

Worker/artist owned cooperative — with distribution, to tell their own stories. Images below.
Workers, writers, and artists start a cooperative production company
They license/option existing stories to the company (which they own together!) and put stories on a website where audiences can access them
Stories can be scripts, treatments, readings, storyboards — it's great material in those formats, and people will dive into those stories just the same
Share the website (distribution!) with followings, along with a way to subscribe
You now have a worker/writer/artist owned cooperative, with distribution, stories, and an audience!
More details in the images below, made as a guide/resource to be helpful.
When I was assembling my last book (Corporations: A research agenda), I became quite interested in Mondragon in Spain as an alternative way of organising businesses (and featured them in the book).
Somehow I missed this recent profile on the Spanish Cooperative conglomerate. It make for an interesting read when we are told there is no other way of running firms in capitalism.... because clearly there is!
What are some of the harms caused by capitalism? Can these harms be addressed by replacing for-profit corporations with cooperatives? What are some of the benefits of capitalism? Can these benefits be preserved if for-profit corporations are replaced with cooperatives?
I'd love to discuss this with folks who are interested. Please boost & reply if you are.
We need a cooperative artist owned platform that rises to distribute artists work in art, film, tv, music. Move production there. Get financing with crowd sourcing and membership/streaming there instead. We can build something just as Netflix did, but without the exploitation, and make better work with fair pay. #cooperatives#union#SAGAFTRA#bandcamp

Software requires hours of specialist labour to develop and maintain. If co-ops want Free Code software designed for the specific needs of co-ops, at a range of scales, we're going to need to come up with systems for funding both initial development and ongoing maintenance of co-op software. Fortunately for us, much of the initial development work can be done by customizing off-the-shelf Free Code, which speeds up development and reduces costs.
#Cooperatives#Coops#Socialism#SolidarityEconomy#WorkerOwnedFirms: "Fast forward to 2024. Once again, the Left is discussing strategies for political advance. It is clear that electoral campaigns on their own and short-lived protests are not enough to win durable victories. But unlike socialists of the past, the contemporary left’s discussions have largely ignored the strategic role that cooperatives — and the solidarity economy more generally, i.e., enterprises geared to serving the needs of workers and achieving broader social goals — can play in building up the Left’s power.
This is a mistake. History shows that a flourishing solidarity economy can provide a distinctive set of material and social benefits for the Left, benefits that can play a key role in socialism’s broader political revival. This is not to say that supporting cooperatives and other kinds of worker-owned firms should supplant our other political tactics — but neither should they be ignored. Rather, cooperatives can and should complement the Left’s other strategic efforts, as the Second International recognized long ago."
Over the past two summers I had the privilege to co-teach experimental design courses, which not only yielded great projects, but also spawned stimulating discussions and discoveries with our students.
To document these kinds of journeys, Philipp @proff and i prepared #SyllabusSite, a template for rendering #Markdown files as scrollable one-pagers that gather readings, inspirations and results in a unique format:
Last year, Myriel Milicevic and i offered a nomadic course »Organigrams for/from the future« and visited ten organizations who shared insights about cooperative work practices. While #organigrams tend to represent traditional organizations, we explored how they could also stimulate our imagination. How would an economy built on solidarity, sustainability and survival look like?
