The Monkey Island games were my introduction to point-and-click adventures and will always have a special place in my heart. From the start, 'Return to Monkey Island' gives the exact same vibe. It feels both like playing another chapter in the Monkey Island series, and at the same time the new aspects make it feel better tailored for modern point-and-click gaming. Personally, I find the art style just beautiful too. Hits right in the nostalgia.
I guess I should do an introduction... I joined Mastodon way back when Twitter imploded (not that I was on Twitter, but it seemed like the place to be), but really didn't figure it out. Now that Reddit's imploding, I'm gonna give it a real shot. I read that it's only polite to do an intro so here I am.
I go by Krispy in every place except work, I'm 36, married, with a dog, two cats, and two snakes. I don't have kids and do not plan to. I have a variety of hobbies, some outdoor (biking, disc golf, birdwatching, etc), some more sedentary (video games, board games, reading, etc), some creative (miniature painting, fountain pen/handwriting, TTRPGs), and some consumptive (tea, baking)... I'm probably missing some.
I love animals/wildlife/ecology. I got my Masters in wildlife parasitology and though I don't use that in my career, I've kept that curiosity and interest. I'm obsessed with paleontology and obscure animals.
I love stories, mostly fantasy, sci fi, mystery/thriller, romance, in virtually any medium. I'm currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, reading Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan, listening to A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie, and watching Drag me to Dinner.
I have a strong science background and believe in questioning everything, but with the understanding that I can't know everything and much in life is unintuitive, so something not making sense to me does not mean it's wrong.
I have no idea how to find people to follow, so if anyone makes it to the end of this and thinks I seem interesting enough to follow, I'll follow you back... I'll start there.

Morning Folks. This topic had been lodged in my head for a few weeks, and this morning I am attempting to do it justice. I will probably fail. I talk about the problem where we gamers have this bad habit of personifying a Game Studio as though it were something similar to a favorite author.
I'm a woman in my 30s. I was born in #Québec City, I moved to #Vancouver for my first real job as a #translator and, a few years ago, I moved to #Ottawa with my husband so we could afford a house.
I mostly write in English, but don't hesitate to toot at me in #français!
I've worked in multiple fields... my favourite were my years with Library and Archives #Canada, which I absolutely loved. I now work in #agriculture.
I've been kinda simmering over an interaction I had like 4-5 years ago. I said I'd like to see a mainline Legend Of Zelda game where you play as Zelda. I got jumped (figuratively) by a few guys who didn't see the point, it's always been Link, and they didn't want it.
So, me, significantly more insecure, trying to be friendly, discussed it with them and we got to a point where it'd be ok if there was at least a choice between Link and Zelda.
No.
These fucking babyass shriveldicks can cope for one damn game where they're not catered to. I don't want a choice. I want a game that Link is fucking dead. D-E-D, Dead. It's all up to Zelda. We've had to put up with lifetimes of male as default, taking in media that centers around men. I'm tired of the consolation prize of "Well, we'll add a gender selection for you". Why is it always (hyperbole for effect) male character, or a choice?
You can deal with one game that's not all about serving you.
I did a #topsters chart for the #AdventureGames I've played in the last 20 years at different times and with different levels of enjoyment. #TheLongestJourney was my favorite, hands down. #BrokenSword was my go-to for mystery/art. #Agon Lost Sword of Toledo was good for the story and southern European setting, I Have no Mouth was the most shocking, #Sanitarium was a mindfuck and the others, classic and new, I'd recommend anyway. #Gaming#Videogames#PCgaming#Playstation3

My son and I went to the video gaming / esports event at the local university. They were giving away loads of snacks, energy drinks, etc. The energy drinks they were giving out have a warning label that indicates it's not safe for those under 18, or with a huge list of health conditions. It has 3x as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. And they're giving it away to kids and college students??!?!
Those rising cardiac death rates among the young are starting to make sense. #esports#videogames
Hi, I'm Oswaldo, from #Venezuela. I came to #Mastodon from #Twitter in search of a space where I can connect with people who share my interests and tastes. I'm an open-minded and respectful person, and I'm always looking to learn new things.
this is a very cool initiative! a bundle of games made with alternative engines: https://itch.io/b/2066/non-unity-games-bundle
"In response to Unity's recent crimes against humanity, we've assembled a bundle of indie games made in other game engines like Twine and Godot. By getting this bundle and playing our games, you can support solo devs, small teams, open source engines, and freedom in interactive media. "
~support some cool devs!
Thanks to all the wonderful people who already follow me here on #Mastodon and interact with my content. I hope to bring some unorganized, not very thought out content to the #Fediverse very soon!
Disney animators used rotoscoping in film animation, but @jmechner brought it to gaming with Karateka. Blend the animation layers yourself in The Making of #Karateka, the first title in our #GoldMasterSeries of interactive documentaries. Available next Tuesday, August 29, for PC & console.
