This is a greally great and insightful interview with about under RTD. The show is planned and shot a year head. We will never face the same situation with Chibnall again any time soon. So good news!

@peteriskrisjanis While shooting the finale, the production team apparently did not know if DW will continue. The whole show was hanging on a knife's edge for a couple of months.

Now I watched #TheDevilsChord and... well that was an hour of television. In some respect that worked better than #SpaceBabies, in others it... didn't, at least for me. Gatwa brings a lot to #DoctorWho and there's enough mystery around Ruby to keep me watching. But let's just say that I'm really glad the next episode is written by #StevenMoffat.

@mekkaokereke That's the thing: if White liberal America wants to keep a liberal America it needs to talk to White non-liberal America (their friends, families, co-workers etc) and convince them not to vote for Trump. Focusing on (and blaming) Black people is just absurd.

I'm not lecturing anyone and frankly I don't care as I'm not living in the US. I find it just absurd that White liberal America is positioning itself to blame Black America for Trump, totally ignoring that White America will, with a strong majority, vote the fascist in big time.

To me it was... ok? I didn't think this was particularly good or redefining the show, but it was kind of solid, albeit on the more silly side of DW.

@aoanla When the Doctor said "Last of the Time Lords" I rolled my eyes, here we go again. This feels a bit tiresome. I know it's not really RTD's fault, Chibs did the genocide thing and never mentioned it again, so RTD is just running with it and tries to tell a coherent story with adoption, being a refuge, being abandoned etc. But it's still very 2005 in a way.

@mrdalesmith @otfrom I totally respect that, also that RTD's credo is that subtlety is for cowards. I also love how he writes one love letter to Moffat Who after the other. I just wished he would not hit almost all of the beats of 2005 Who again.

@aoanla Oh for sure, he's doing the best with the overall situation Chibs left the Doctor in (and much better at developing the character). I also enjoy how he apparently loves Moffat Who and incorporates some of the vibes. But he's a on your nose populist story teller who likes to rearrange his old stuff with some new ideas. Revolutionary it ain't (at least yet).

@mrdalesmith Moff vibes: Ruby as an amalgam of Rose with Amy and Clara; the "magical" elements in the stories so far; the emphasis on children stories in the last episode; the realization that the monster isn't really a monster; etc. He's really taking a lot of pages out of Moffat's playbook. He seems to adore the man and his writing.

@mrsjmccrimmon Competently made, with lots of charm. But it wasn't exactly redefining the show. It felt like the original Eccleston RTD Who, with a tinge of Moffat. And very silly. I'm ok with it, just not too excited. Gatwa was charming, I like the guy.

Saw the sun today! When the sun comes out, the sun worshippers come out too!

"Trump is worse!" And then I'm blocked.

People get so cranky at Black folk for pointing out the irrefutable evidence that Biden's Covid policies got a lot of people long Covid, and caused a lot of other people to die of Covid unnecessarily.

You can get mad at me. You can yell "Trump is worse!" until your voice gets hoarse. I'm not talking about Trump. I'm talking about pandemic decisions made during this administration.

Y'all know I'm right.
