First they require in-person #returnToOffice, then they relocate business units from one location to another, and force those who can’t uproot their lives to leave.
The Apple location in #SanDiego isn’t going away. But they intentionally forced 121 people to choose between moving to #Austin, or lose their jobs. Make no mistake, this is a layoff.
Never mind the fact that #Texas is hostile to anyone with a uterus, or is not cishet—why the hell anyone would move to that state? If anything, Apple should be shutting down their Austin office, and paying for people to relocate to a state that better ensures their safety.

I've a fun, short piece out from the @TexasObserver magazine, about a crew of volunteers that have been going out every week, for about 15 years, to count all the crawling, flying critters they can find.
I spent over six months getting to know the queens and kings of the city, hanging out backstage and making sure I could center my story on #trans, nonbinary and especially Black performers. It's really a privilege to work at a pub like @TexasObserver, where this kind of #journalism is possible. I hope we can continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Platforms like #AirBNB & VRBO cause massive messes across #Texas (and the globe). In #Fredericksburg, 1,900+ short-term units now comprise nearly 25 percent of the housing inventory.
I am so excited to finally share my @TexasObserver feature on the #Drag Queens of Austin and how they're defying the threat of legal crackdown and persecution in the streets, from the magazine. I spent months putting this together and I am so proud of how it came out... https://www.texasobserver.org/austin-drag-queens-defy-ban/
Protesters just disrupted a #sxsw panel with Andre Dickens, mayor of #Atlanta, on behalf of the #StopCopCity movement. Dickens fled the panel, hounded by protesters, and it continued without him.
I was briefly detained by police and sxsw staff upon exiting the event. #Austin
Hi friends. I haven't posted about it here much but I've been job searching for a few months now! I have about 5 years of experience as an accessibility engineer, performing QA, development, and consultation work primarily on the web with a smattering of native iOS. I'm seeking full-time or contract opportunities, either remote or in the #Austin area. My resume is available upon request. Boosts appreciated! 🙂 #FediHire#accessibility#a11y#javascript#web#NativeMobile#frontend#software#web
About 50 people just disrupted the Bari Weiss speech at the University of #Texas at #Austin for a free Palestine. Bari made transphobic and fatphobic jokes to the crowd in addition to accusing #Palestine supporters of being a "death cult." After disrupting her speech with chanting the group is making noise directly outside now. #FreePalestine
Activists are performing flyer drops from parking garages and other structures near the road closures at #sxsw this week to protest the sponsorship of war profiteers.
Protesters unfurled a banner and briefly chanted at the US Army booth inside of the #sxsw CREATIVE Expo at the #Austin Convention Center, demanding justice for #Palestine.
