99.9% of jobs do not require urgency of any kind, really they don't. We've all had a boss who acts like someone will die if we don't hit some made up deadline by people who don't even do the job. No one needs their meal 1 minute faster or the paperwork before tomorrow morning. Your time off actually doesn't need to wait. Sometimes I think about how legitimately bad most businesses are at time management and hiring, and I wonder how they manage to exist at all.

@RickiTarr I remember listening to a podcast about this. The interviewee said something like “if you want to know if your job adds value, think about the repercussions of you not being there” - and for a lot of people, the repercussions of them not being at work aren’t really that massive.

Genuinely quite surprised at the number of people coming out to say throwing a milkshake at Farage was 'assault' and must never happen to politicians. I absolutely agree politicians should not be subject to violence, but there is a long, proud history of throwing foodstuffs at people as a form of protest. Intended to humiliate and ridicule, not to injure. Pleased to see Mastodon mostly agrees.

These days whenever I'm in a pub like stereo in glasgow where they've had gender neutral toilets for many years, it strikes me over again how utterly dishonest transphobic "feminism" is

It's one of the safest pubs in the city, because they've actively, intentionally cultivated it as a safe environment largely through inclusion

The idea that policing people's bodies to decide which toilet they can have a piss in would somehow make some of us safer is such manipulative nonsense

@msquebanh also - our "overlords" want us hopeless. Having hope is an act of resistance. It says, I will live to fight another day. Whatever our small act is. Some acts are glorious. Some are mundane. But together these small acts create waves across the world. Activism can mean saying "hi" to a neighbour, in a world that increasingly favours discord.
