The words of Shoshan Haran, who was held captive along with three members of her family, and whose son-in-law Tal Shoham is still captive: “We cannot allow the normalization of this unprecedented form of terrorism — mass hostage-taking of unarmed civilians, women, children, elderly,” said Haran, now 68, founder of farming and food security charity Fair Planet.

The EBU apparently didn’t allow the Israeli presenter to wear a yellow ribbon pin. Because reminding the world of the hostages, not just Israeli but of many nationalities, is “political.” Just like mourning the massacre at a music festival is “political,” so the original Israeli song lyrics were disqualified. The world is working hard and actively to promote a collective amnesia of the 7 October pogrom. It has been 219 days.
