I like immigration. I like not to have serious skills gaps in our services. I like mixing with people who grew up in other countries. I like being enriched by other cultures. I would like the feeling that my country opened its arms to people fleeing terrible situations elsewhere. I don’t understand why other people don’t think like this
@bleakfuture In the UK they complained about white immigrants a LOT, and that’s what led to Brexit. There was a particular hoo hah about Polish people. So it’s not racism pure and simple, it’s also a more generalised xenophobia
@janisf The UK government cares much less about being a world class research centre than it does about restricting foreign student numbers to look tough on immigration. It’s nuts
It’s no surprise to me that I’ve barely slept tonight, but it is frustrating. I’m listening to some binaural beats which are supposed to prepare you for sleep but I might get up and make some hot chocolate ☕️ Insomnia is so boring!

Busy afternoon.
I decided to order car seat covers for my husband's vehicle. The back seat anyway, because that's where Summer hangs out.
I got the seats pulled out ok, but putting them back with the new covers was a challenge.
Got that done and still had to mow the grass on our side of the road before the neighbors called to remind me again. I managed the mowing without getting run over again. Yay!
The good thing about my life is that I feel needed and appreciated every day.
I think that is important to me.
Dinner is in the oven, and there is berry pie for dessert.
I am ready for a rest.
Summer says to pace myself.

I’m really here for the people who use Mastodon as a kind of journal, to share their thoughts and daily lives. I prefer that to the political stuff, although I do appreciate humorous posts. @Jaden3@PoliceStateUK I’m voting Labour but I’m not happy about a lot of their policies. I will put up with that to try to get the Tories out but it is no longer the Labour Party as I knew it
