🚨 WE WON AGAIN 🚨

The Court of Appeal has confirmed the Immigration Exception is UNLAWFUL in the case brought by ORG and @the3million to defend migrants' access to their data.

The UK Home Office can't sidestep Parliament when using data to profile migrants.

We need to talk about ULEZ (UK). But not for the reasons you think.

The real cause of concern is its use of automatic number plate recognition and the free access to this data given to the Met Police for surveillance.

If UK politicians truly cares about the state of air pollution and the environment, they can’t ignore how the fear of surveillance could undermine climate goals.

The Immigration Exemption aims to let the Home Office and companies refuse requests for personal data.

Our judicial review with @the3million found it's unlawful because it doesn’t comply with #GDPR.

The #DataGrabBill tries to make the unlawful lawful, by giving organisations more power to refuse subject access requests and charging fees.

It'll reintroduce barriers to access migrants' data intended by the unlawful Immigration Exemption.

Concerns about the encryption-busting provisions in the #OnlineSafetyBill are growing.

@Mer__edith told the Today Programme that putting client-side scanning on everyone's devices implements a system of mass surveillance.

The government is pursuing a legislative agenda that'll leave people the UK without secure messaging services.

Powers to scan everyone's private messages must be removed from the Online Safety Bill.

Radio 4 giving plenty of air time to the "poor police, give them their guns back" angle, while failing to say that commenting on a murder case that the CPS has judged to be prosecutable make it, by definition, sub judice, and SHOULD NOT be commented on by media, the police themselves and, most importantly, the Home Secretary.
Literally the definition of undermining the rule of law.

The UK government intends to crush our ability to find out what personal data organisations hold about us, which is critical for us to use rights effectively.

The #DataGrabBill makes it easier for organisations to refuse to respond to a subject access request, including if it’s ‘too onerous for them’, and allows them to introduce fees.

Rights must be robust and enforceable. Otherwise we’re exposed to State and commercial whims.

So we are about to lose access to WhatsApp, Apple and Facebook in the UK. If it happens I cannot imagine what the reaction of the public will be [irony]?

Seriously what on earth are the Tories thinking? They are as reliant on these platforms as the rest of us. Do they think that the tech companies are bluffing and that the UK is too important a market to exit? If they do, they could be in for an awful shock.

The #DataGrabBill will let the UK government authorise international data transfers with reduced oversight, even if the country lacks enforceable rights or effective remedies.

It risks the UK-EU adequacy agreement for the free flow of data.

This deregulatory law is not only seriously damaging to our data rights, it'll have major economic consequences. Legal fees alone may be up to £1.6 billion.

Data allows election campaigns to deliver micro-targeted messaging with the power to manipulate public opinion.

The #DPDIBill will make it easier for political parties to use our data and introduces a wide basis to process data for “democratic engagement” purposes.

Despite the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the government wants to lower accountability just as a UK general election looms.

Climate catastrophe news. This is a before and after of the Brazilian State of Rio Grande del Sul, following four days of relentless torrential rain.
However, in better news, Rishi Sunak's climate policy has been declared unlawful by the High Court this morning (via Adam Bienkov of Byline, see tweet). I'll post the link to the judgment when it surfaces.
