I feel when Bucha happened in Ukraine still a lot of people were shocked and outraged. But somehow this extreame achievement of the human race to formulate human rights and at least try to defend them is withering away....
Good that you are raising the outrage fatigue. At the same time I'd like to highlight that you are asking your question in the Fediverse which is probably a Western dominant world and it also depends who you are talking to in real life. The west has seen the Covid-19 pandemic which was, I'm sure, a shocker to a lot of people (though not everyone will admit that), and I am sure that the huge popularity of smart phone scrolling has made people change their attitude more indifferent. There is surely more to this like the invasion in Ukraine and the resulting inflation, and more "flex" work in many countries. Have a look at this image, which also shows why people have less time to care about more than their own problems : https://media.hachyderm.io/media_attachments/files/112/433/665/876/256/493/original/b858379a791385c9.jpg (Image posted in a post by a Unconditional Universal #BasicIncome (UBI) advocate) tl;dr Governments and companies and the super rich will keep people with lower income busy worrying about their own problems.

It's apparently been deemed succesful enough to justify an expansion https://zurl.co/iScO
The #BasicIncome movement has the potential to unite many perspectives, and this Conservative defence of a Basic Income is worth a read- not least because poverty is not, as so eloquently posited here, a zero-sum game https://zurl.co/T9dH
New results from another completed guaranteed #basicincome pilot. This one was in Cambridge, MA where 130 people got $500/mo for 18 months. Did they work less? No. They worked MORE.
Recipients went from 36% FT employed to 40%. Those who didn't get it went from 30% to 28%. PT and seasonal employment also grew for those with the basic income.
That isn't unusual. Most of the pilots have shown increased employment.
Rural homelessness is rising six times as much as homelessness overall. I can see that; in real life, I'm seeing more and more people who are homeless being charged with trespassing, stealing, and other crimes that the police & courts like to harass homeless people with. It's time to pay a #BasicIncome and give everyone a place to stay. https://www.hcn.org/articles/what-rural-homelessness-looks-like/
I signed this and emailed my MP and asked Senators to vote YES on Bill #C223 for #BasicIncome and send it to the Committee. It's time the rich helped the rest of us.
If passed, this law would require the Minister of Finance, within one year, to create a Canada-wide framework for the implementation of a Guaranteed Livable #BasicIncome.
This law would "ensure that participation in education, training or the labour market is not required”
So, if you're not able to work, or can't for a period of time, you would still have this Basic Income.

#California has spent billions in trying to stop homelessness, yet the problem keeps getting worse. The count is now approaching 200,000. One reason is that it costs so much to live there. We should call it what it is -- price gouging. Companies & landlords that do it do not deserve to exist. The other solution is simple -- cut out the middleman and just give them the money. I can spend my money better than someone else, even one acting in good faith. #BasicIncomehttps://alamedapost.com/news/california-spends-billions-on-homelessness-yet-the-crisis-keeps-getting-worse/
Unconditional #basicincome isn't some radical, futuristic idea. It's an investment in society. Think about it - wouldn't you be more likely to take a chance starting a new business if you knew your basic needs were covered? Let's stop thinking in terms of scarcity and instead choose abundance.
Unconditional #BasicIncome will be the floor beneath the tightrope of life - always there, ready to catch you if you fall. You'd have the confidence to take risks without fear of absolute destitution. UBI is about creating an environment of safety, and from safety comes creativity, innovation.
How many studies and pilots of #BasicIncome are we gonna do? For decades they just keep having the same result: overwhelming success, an extremely efficient way to reduce poverty and improve peoples' lives across the board.
It clearly works. It's time to move beyond the pilot stage.
PS: "the biggest problem poor people have is not having enough money" should not be a shock to anyone who isn't a paternalistic control freak asshole (almost certainly with overtones of racism too, for the record).
Why don't people care about human rights anymore?
