Finished "Station Eleven" yesterday - what a wonderful, life-affirming show! No exaggeration to say it is one of most beautiful and thought-provoking works of art I've encountered. Such a breath of fresh air to see an apocalyptic narrative where people come together rather than fight each other. It really captures what is best about humanity. And I think its focus on community makes it an excellent example of #Hopepunk or #Solarpunk. MUST WATCH!

Hello there! I am Fedi Jedi! (I moved here to my new instance so here's a new introduction)
I'm just a simple jedi making my way in the Fediverse. Way back, I used to be the Star Wars guy on Google+, RIP. I am a Star Wars super aficionado. I've seen all the films and tv shows to date. The Clone Wars and prequels are my favorite! I was the president of the Star Wars club at my university. Been to Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015 and Orlando 2017. I waited overnight in the Anaheim Convention Center basement to see the first Force Awakens trailer in the main hall that was crazy. I've been to Tatooine (aka Death Valley) and seen the filming locations there. Visited the Lucasfilm HQ in San Francisco and seen the famous Yoda statue and lobby. I collect Black Series and LEGO. I am making a dedicated Star Wars Lemmy.... stay tuned :)
Also: I live in SoCal, LA/OC. I love movies, especially sci-fi & westerns! I use Garuda Linux.

Apparently #paramountPlus decided to cancel Star Trek: Lower Decks, ending with the 5th season.
It's bad enough "seasons" these days are an anemic 10 episodes (if that!), and then they get cancelled while still going strong? ugh..
I need some new science fiction to read, who has some suggestions? I don't like military sci-fi. For reference, my favorite series is the Expanse, I also enjoyed Scalzi's Collapsing Empire, I love Robert Charles Wilson's books. I mostly enjoy space operas and unique stories about technology, for example I really liked the recent book Mountain in the Sea about AI and intelligent octopus. Chce Wam dziś przybliżyć twórczość Janusza A. Zajdla, bardzo utalentowanego pisarza SFI, wizjonera, który pisał w nurcie fanastyki socjologicznej, czyli tego co akurat mnie interesuję. Snuł wizje świata, społeczeństwa w odległej przyszłości, starsi czytelnicy napewno zauwazą aluzje do PRLu i jego krytyke. Zapewne ówcześni czytelnicy odczytywali jego proze głównie przez pryzmat zniewolenia totalitarnego w latach 80. Ale! Zajdel pozostawił bardzo ciekawe wizje przyszłego świata, które już się sprawdzają - niestety. Zresztą o nim i jego powieściach przeczytacie wiele na wikipedii. Ja mam "na koncie": Paradyzje - bardzo ciekawa wizja życia w ułudzie, ukrywania prawdy o istocie. rzeczywistości wspaniałego świata; Cylinder van Troffa oraz Limes Inferior - chyba sztandarowa jego powieść, wspaniała, pięknie napisana i prorocza, gdzie ludziom przyznaje sie punkty (coś wam to mówi??)
