"constant fighting with our own sense of identity causes further psychological distress...

"Instead of asking “what’s wrong w/ me?” We need to shift discourse over to “what happened to me?”. It’s vital that psychological distress be placed in the context of one’s environment&
experiences of the complex power dynamics within them."

Yes. Much more space for compassion, curiosity without judgment and room for growing toward acceptance and healing.. It's a lovely article.

Damn. This week has been intense. Two high suicidality assessments and safety planning for clients that I am not their lead but are in our day treatment program.... Both times it was during my session... Now arranging for higher levels of care. I'm grateful for the clients that have been showing improvement and I'm hopeful for those who have been suffering that we can help them turn the corner... Thank goodness it's a long weekend!

    PsychTink,

Wonderful! What is your perspective on the concept of attuned touch with IFS? I've never used it and see a lot of things to consider as was outlined in the article in the OP. Yet I also see how it could also be an important healing tool in the right context.

After that I realized it was something I did often. Newborns sleep with their hands in fists... But I guess I never stopped? Is my pinky my own built-in worry stone? It's strange learning things I've done all my life could be neurodivergent. 2/

I was explaining this to another person on discord and they thought I was referring to dinosaur hands or trexhands which is what you're describing. I sent pics and they said, oh, that's different. But then several others said they do what I showed. Little simple things like this that others point out when I wasn't aware but now I can't unsee ...

These Inner Active cards are still my favorite entrance into work.
When people are given permission to have compassion and understand the unmet need a firefighter part is trying to meet, they see their addiction or depression or anxiety in a new way that brings relief. And these images really provide an entrance to their unconscious.

    I’ve planned many projects
But my fucks won’t be involved!

My fucks have all been spent,
They’ve fucked off from the building

    loops, to ADHD

I found myself looking through apps again, thinking maybe there's something to one of the plethora of apps designed "for" folks with ADHD? They look like they were made by the same people that told me I "just" need a diary.

I've used. So many apps. It doesn't matter the interface, or the cutesy idiom - eventually, I stop checking. I put all my tasks in, neatly organise and categorise them, then I go off to do something else - great intentions and all that 😅

Any #ADHD friends out there who know of anything that helps to solve real ADHD challenges? Some of mine that come to mind specifically when trying to plan tasks / do things:

    • I forget to check the app / todo list
    • I forget I'm supposed to check
    • More tasks go in than get ticked off, which is demotivating
    • Reminders at inoppertune times (focused on something else, not feeling the thing) get summarily dismissed never to be seen again

    @actuallyadhd #ActuallyADHD #AuDHD

    PsychTink,

@loops @actuallyadhd I'm following because my youngest daughter (16 yrs) is on a similar search.
