"Magic Moon" - Der 14. Captain-Future-Roman gehört zu denjenigen Erzählungen, die bislang nicht ins Deutsche übersetzt worden sind - dafür aber wurde er als Animé-Episode verfilmt (Titel: "Die Rolle seines Lebens")...

Finished rereading The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers.

Enjoyed it. And lots of it I didn’t remember. So it was like reading it anew. I rated it 5⭐️ before. Would do again.

Now on to the other three books in the Wayfarer Series which I own but haven’t read.

Wow, you can hear how much Ariana Grande loves Kristin Chenowith.

My wife and I are eager to see this movie.

We've only seen one (1) musical on Broadway, and this was it. A package bus-dinner-Broadway deal.

All because my wife was flipping channels and happened upon Idina Menzel performing "Defying Gravity" in a music award show.

Building a sci-fi asset library.

nyrath,
@nyrath@spacey.space avatar

@thisnorthernboy

The first of many parts libraries, I'm sure.

nyrath,
@nyrath@spacey.space avatar

@thisnorthernboy

You technically do not need more than one part library.

But practically if the single library has a gazillion parts, it will take a long time to find the parts you need. At some point it will take a shorter time to make the part from scratch, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Blender 3D would be an astonishingly powerful modeling app if it cost three figures. The fact it is free makes it the best app ever.

Well, my smartphone just screamed at me. It informed me that at 5:00 EST the army Corp of engineers will be using explosive cutting charges to slice up the part of the collapsed Francis Key Bridge which is currently draped over the cargo ship.

They said anybody within 2,000 feet should either wear hearing protection or hide inside a house.

I will comply...

Yes, the crew was "sheltering in place" on board the ship when the explosives were detonated. Something about they have to keep the generator running or something bad happens.

The crew has been onboard ever since the accident happened.

nyrath,

@jstevenyork @swope

At home. Approximately 1.4 miles from the detonation site. The warning said anybody within 2,000 yards should be indoors or wearing hearing protection.

nyrath,

@n1vux

No lingering effects I noticed.

I say it "felt" like a pressure wave moving through my head, but I was probably just feeling my sinuses expand. If it was strong enough to slosh my brain, all the windows in my house would have imploded.

Well this is embarrassing.

I've never been a fan of Doctor Who, since is only marginally science fiction. But I just watched the first two episodes of Series 14, and I rather enjoyed them.

[1] I personally like scifi that if it cannot be scientifically accurate, is at least internally self consistent. E.g. the history of baby station.

[2] I am fond of movies and shows where the characters are nonplussed by absurd things that go shambling by. E.g. the goblin ship.

The key to Blender 3d for me was the admonition "One hand on the keyboard, the other on the mouse".

I printed out a list of the more important keyboard commands, taped it next to the monitor, and started doing tutorials.

I was hating life for about five days.

On the sixth day I grudgingly tried the next tutorial, and was surprised to find everything was unexpectedly easy!
