I just got a complaint about my #photography posts, which I concluded came from a troll, but perhaps I’m actually coming off in a way that rubs people the wrong way here.

The complaint was that by posting high resolution images and describing in detail the processes used to create them, I’m merely “showing off” in a way that isn’t useful to most people.

I indeed do rather niche photography, using relatively esoteric gear. I think some people are interested in process and enjoy the results.

Troll/reply guy tried to get me to back down from my unequivocal statement that there's no evidence the 2020 election was stolen, claiming it's better to "meet people halfway" if I want to convince them.

No. As a researcher and educator, I believe in providing clear, accurate information.

The "evidence" that the election was stolen is made up bullshit. To call it anything else is a disservice.

If someone claims that 2+2=5, I'm not going to try to get them to compromise that it's 4.5.

Spent the day experimenting with anamorphic lenses to figure out how much resolution you can actually squeeze out of them with digital sensors.

Tl;dr: The theory is pretty simple and actually works in practice, but almost every discussion of it on the Internet gets it wrong.

Tip to those having bad air from smoke right now: We have air purifiers in the house, but we also run air through our forced-air system. I forgot I had it set to run about 30% of the time, and turned the fan to on full-time, and the PM2.5 count in our house dropped from about 40 to 16 in a couple hours. We have a MERV 13 filter in the air circulation.
