To all #selfhost people in the #federation / #federated space. Due to a lack of #funds (on my online side of things) and the upkeep of an #instance growing by the month, AND the renewal of my domain (25-35$). I am considering closing down the enshittification.social instance to save the money for other #projects that I work on, and mostly my own #infrastructure.
What are your #experiences? What do you guys think is the best path for me to take?
I am on the hunt for a #Roleplay#RP instance here. That is akin to #RPC here or #TwitterRP . I like to write a lot, and make stories with others, and if I could find a #Instance on the #Fediverse that is to my liking. I will make a new account over there and bring my friends over from #Twitter#X, and #Discord over to there.
So if anyone has ideas or where I can find one. Or hell, if anyone wants to make an #instance with me for #RP purposes, hit me up on Discord.

If you get a #followRequest without your account being locked, the #admins of your #instance have paid attention in advance and warn you about a suspicious account. You can still allow it as a follower, but the one today was indeed extremely suspicious and rubbish.

But in any case, I'm after a new safe home where I'm sure the "blocked_domains.csv" will take effect, and that can tolerate an idle fucker who posts a lot of pictures (with Alt Txt, naturally).

I would not move but SDF is ticking all the boxes, except search, and it goes down regularly when the SSL certificate expires (not an automation problem. It's structural)
A day ago, I and others here and on different domains were hit with a massive spam attack.
Now, thanks to my domain administrators it's completely (mostly) cleared up. I'll bet many of them have been working overtime.
Thank your domain administrators and support them financially if you can. They work hard to keep Mastodon a good place.
Two things I need to find: A new Matrix homeserver (currently on matrix.org) and a good Lemmy instance...
I mean, I could selfhost both of them, but I think that would blow up my available resources...
Edit: I don't want ANY finacial offers. I am here to seek advise, to get into a discussion if an instance is actually fitting. If I would want to a "private" instance, I will do it by myself!
Taliban Shuts Down 'queer.af' Domain, Breaking Mastodon Instance

I spend so much of my time posting on here struggling with the 500 character limit. And while I get it can be good to "get to the point" - but that can be at the expense of nuance or being polite...
So, do anyone know of any good #Mastodon instances with a high character limit?
(Also, I seriously think you should increase it here, @matt. Come on, it's an instance for writers! We can be trusted. 😉)
