Cars. They're fun for the entire family.

Buy a polluting gas guzzler today and we'll give you €500 to fly somewhere on holiday. Spread the joy of fossil fuels far and wide.

Fun for the kids as well: colour in this picture of a huge #wankpanzer of the kind that is particularly good at killing kids and if you're lucky you might win tickets to be driven to a adventure park.

Was discussing the neighbor's insistence that the gardeners kill everything yesterday ("they nuked the yard with Roundup" I said) and now my son is getting Roundup ads on Facebook. Yesterday, I mentioned one of my kids' names (which is very close to a brand) and that brand is being advertised to him, too. (I deleted Facebook long ago and will never load it or any of its software, because of that creepy snooping). I guess his generation just assumes they are being listened to all the time... #advertising #surveillance

Apple pulls the controversial "Crush" ad and apologizes.

"The ad, posted on social media Tuesday by Apple CEO Tim Cook, was met with backlash from internet users who felt that the ad celebrated technology’s destruction of human creativity and art."

I can confidently diagnose as sociopaths.

Promised therapy customers privacy...then gave their mental health info to advertisers.

Victims get less than ten bucks each.

Company made billion+ in revenue last year alone.

In a just society with good privacy laws, they'd face existential civil & criminal consequences.

I reflexively cringed when I saw this ad. Not only is it wasteful, the message sent across appears to be that Apple literally crushes all the things you like to make the new iPad.

Tone-deaf.

For me, it's Grammarly. Or maybe Temu.

Yeah, Apple has had a few advertising missteps in the past ("wHatZ uH cOmpUTer???), but this 'Crush' commercial is one of the darkest mistakes I think they've ever made. It feels like the intro to Fallout style dystopian story.
A far cry from the optimism of the 1984 commercial, Apple has become what they once rallied against...

#TMobile USA sends mobile phone usage data to #PushSpring, which T-Mobile acquired in 2019.
T-Mobile assigns a unique ad ID to your cellphone and gathers app usage data.
To opt out and remove all data of you, there's an app - "magenta advertisements platform".

For me it's horrible that they do so without telling and that the app is somewhere hidden - no one would come up with that name!

For #Android (I don't know whether they do it on iOS, too):

I'm thinking ITV is not getting the viewers for Red Eye that it had promised its advertisers.... what makes me think that?

The fact that in today's Guardian ITV has paid for an effective six (!) pages of advertising for the series - 2 x double page, 1 x full page, 2x x half page...

Oh dear....

I'd love my 'local' feed to be more aligned ghost signs-related topics, eg history, urbanism, architecture, advertising, graphic design, etc.

Is there a nice, perhaps smaller, instance I should consider moving to?

I'd prefer mastodon—I'm used to it now, and could bring my existing posts with me—but I would consider other fediverse services.

I'd be grateful for a or two😀
