@AmyIsCoolz @yassie_j ah i've seen the type. i don't like bringing it up because a lot of people are very down on FOSS already, but these attitude is sadly very common on all FOSS related things

OK this might be the right idea. You fill it with books, they don't get dusty... they go in the closet or deep in some storage nook.

Then in 15 years you can look at them and maybe part with a few... I can do this!

@llewelly Dixon truly contains multitudes. i wonder if any of his dinosaur books are good. trough a stand of the local flea market i got his terrible (but somewhat charming) book on dinosaurs living in the modern day and a pocket DK encyclopedia. the latter is a typical of the genre. having the ocassional good reconstruction coexisting in the same page with lazy poorly observed artwork (that is still a lot better than it's slowly encroaching AI replacements)

I was trying to take a nap, but I was awakened by a nightmare: in my dream, early-branching tetrapodomorphs like Acanthostega and Ichthyostega with 7+ fingers were denounced as forgeries of so-called "AI" and erased from natural history.

Like nearly all dreams, it didn't make any sense when examined in the cold light of reality. At least, I hope not.

Happy , check out this skull from a juvenile Gryposaurus! These hadrosaurs called North America their home roughly 75 million years ago, and this particular individual would have enjoyed the lush jungle that makes up the Kaiparowits Formation. (1/2)

a snail that lives with ants??

" Allopeas myrmekophilos was regularly found in colonies of the ponerine army ant Leptogenys distinguenda. The gastropods always remained inside the bivouacs of their hosts, where they were able to move around undisturbed by the ants. During emigrations A. myrmekophilos was always carried by workers in a manner identical to brood or prey items."

@llewelly i imagine these guys being the size of elephants. what do you think the limitant on larger sizes would be for something like this?

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

if the whole venated insect style wing changing into an articulated hydraulic wing pans out then maybe that could result in even larger klis-cha
walking wing forms could develop that would look like if the real animal was walking it's leashed pterosaur pets

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

maybe some of the walking wing forms could even become flightless. it could look like a larger animal is walking it's dogs. perhaps that would be too far. i'm not sure a single "brain" could control 3 large bodies
