I ordered these LITERALLY a YEAR AGO to the day, and they JUST ARRIVED!
Apple stalled the Google location tracker network for as long as they could, but now we FINALLY have some competition for AirTags!
Happiness. I can now reveal that I was stupid and left my iPad in the bus from Toledo to Madrid two weeks ago (on a Saturday). I followed it in Find My and saw that it returned to Toledo and stayed there. I went there the following day, but of course the ticket office wasn’t open on Sundays and even if I saw it was some metres away I couldn’t get it... I eventually got a reply from #Alsa that they do have it there and I can fetch it on a weekday so here I am now and yes I got it back. Whew.
If #iOS was really clever, it would notice that you are in bus/train/etc and ping your nearby devices/#AirTag items frequently once you stop, to be able to tell you right away “dude, you left your iPad/hat/bag in the bus, go back now and fetch it”.
It did tell me now that I left the iPad, but too late. We were already hundreds of metres away, in the metro station, and it took like five minutes to go back and by that time the bus had already left.
I got tired of losing the remote and searching for it so I gave it and put an AirTag on the home theater PC remote in my bedroom. #apple#airtag#throwingthetowel
Es sollte doch eigentlich mal, als #Apple#AirTag Pendant für #Android so Tracker kommen für das #FindmyDevice Netzwerk.
Gibt es da inzwischen eigentlich schon Teile zu kaufen?
Cool #iPhone and #AirTag thing I learned the other day - An AirTag can act like an NFC chip (I guess it is one, plus some fancy packaging). So I wrote an automation that starts recording a walking workout when I tap the AirTag on my non-car-keyring (the one I bring on walks), and pauses it when I tap again on return to the house. Seemed to work okay - I've added some notifications to indicate that the workout app (Footpath, in this case) is actually paused, as it wasn't obvious.
One thing is kind of glitchy - The scan quality is strongly affected by the presence of metal, in this case the keyring itself. So it's a little awkward to scan. I have to keep the rest of the keyring as far as possible from the phone while I'm tapping or it won't register.
I’m looking at AirTags and I have a question. They have a nice privacy feature built in where if there is someone else’s #AirTag following you it will notify you and play a sound. But if I put one in my car or on my bike and it gets stolen, won’t the thief then be notified that they’re being tracked? And then they just throw away the AirTag rendering it completely useless for tracking the thief? I’m seeing conflicting info online about how long it takes for an AirTag to notify other people or play a sound.
I get that it has to be balanced with the potential for harm from stalking. Just wondering if the tech would be useful for my use case (stolen car/bike).

Partnering with Velotric to road test their new cargo bike and this thing HAULS! Like, literally. It's not just quick, it actually hauls a lot of gear.
Here are my early thoughts on the Velotric Go 1!
The Find My backpack is now available! While this is interesting, pretty cool, and sets the stage for more Find My integrated products, I have one question….
Why not just put an AirTag in your current backpack?
Question!
Google recently announced they were making a device tracking service like AirTags, and that other brands like Pebblebee and Chipolo would make supporting hardware.
There was mention of Tile also supporting it, but since the announcement I haven't seen any actual confirmation that Tile is on board.
Has anyone seen a follow up or reached out to Tile?
I really want to test some of these trackers, and I have some older but still current Tiles to play with too.
Can’t connect an AirTag to your iPhone, especially if that AirTag isn’t brand new or has had a battery replaced?
Take out the battery from the AirTag and put it back in. You should hear a chirp do this for more times for total of five times. That resets the AirTag. In my case, my #iPhone was able to then pick up the #AirTag and connect to it.
