Cool #iPhone and #AirTag thing I learned the other day - An AirTag can act like an NFC chip (I guess it is one, plus some fancy packaging). So I wrote an automation that starts recording a walking workout when I tap the AirTag on my non-car-keyring (the one I bring on walks), and pauses it when I tap again on return to the house. Seemed to work okay - I've added some notifications to indicate that the workout app (Footpath, in this case) is actually paused, as it wasn't obvious.
One thing is kind of glitchy - The scan quality is strongly affected by the presence of metal, in this case the keyring itself. So it's a little awkward to scan. I have to keep the rest of the keyring as far as possible from the phone while I'm tapping or it won't register.
@matthewcassinelli The AirTag thing is attractive becasue I have it with me anyway when I go on these walks.
I’ll take a look, though. A while ago I bought a bunch of cheap NFC tags that were a disappointment becasue they seem to scan only sporadically. Not sure if it’s my phone or what - not a reason to upgrade, though 😄
