@deadsuperhero you are right. use what ever you want. no one is forced to join discord. if you don't like it, stay away.

but the issues here were an extremely updated room (v1 vs v11) and no one with admin privileges. that's just not Matrix fault.

I always was annoyed by the hashtag spam cloud at the bottom of (IG) posts and wonder why hashtags weren't handled separately outside the original caption - like EyeEm did it when they were cool.

In Germany, our data protection officer operates a Mastodon server (https://social.bund.de/directory) on which several accounts of federal authorities are located. Could be interesting to reach out for an interview. Would love to read about their efforts and challenges.

Selbst Ostern hält das deutsche Bürgertum nicht auf (bevor jemand wie auch immer aufschreit, bitte sympathisches Augenzwinkern dazudenken). In Hamburg-Eimsbüttel gibt es ab Februar jeden letzten Sonntag im Monat einen sympathischen Flohmarkt, die Stände sind ausschließlich Anwohnern vorbehalten, das hält die professionellen Abzocker fern, die mittlerweile fast jeden Flohmarkt übernommen haben.

I'm honestly considering a paid verification program in Pixelfed to help sustain the project long term.

It would be a centralized list, and would be present in clients, regardless of server.

A blue checkmark would not only help our project financially, but would also provide a trusted visual mark of verification.

Thoughts?

I've reached out to Meta/Threads devs regarding Nodeinfo and stats numbers for https://FediDB.org, unfortunately their legal dept rejected this.

I will use estimated numbers with the hope they will see this and have justification for reporting accurate stats.

Even though I have my own reservations regarding Meta (and how they've treated Pixelfed), putting my ego aside for the benefit of the fediverse is required when running an essential fedi service like FediDB.

    Good news regarding the pixelfed matrix channel!

    The managing director of Matrix has joined and mentioned a possible resolution to our admin permission issue!

    I'm really hopeful we can resolve this issue and make it our main chat over discord.

    I'll still be present in Discord, but I'd like to encourage Matrix use as it better aligns with our project.

    @dansup I don't think it's unfinished at all. I love how well it is made and would love my friends (and clients) to move to pixelfed as well. It's such a pleasant experience to not have to struggle with big tech enshittified algorithms. There are 1-2 UI /UX things that could make the app and web interface an even rounder experience, but I'm sure they will be done at some point. I love how transparent you are with the development. #gopixelfed
